Will be on the 9/26 Wonder. Booked through DU as Category 12, Gty. -- got a great rate & great service; I recommend DU and will use DU again. Got lucky and scored a free upgrade (3rd cruise; 1st upgrade) to room #1058 - a category 9, double porthole room on deck 1, beside fore elevators. BTW, received doc's yesterday (was relieved to see that they were mailed prior to hurricane.)

3 questons: 1) what is the set up for the Deck "1" ,cat 9, "double porthole" rooms -- is the bed, or the sofa, on the porthole wall? 2) will an adult be comfortable on the sleep sofa? & 3) please... someone reassure me that stateroom #1058 will be "quite"..?..? (I had a very unpleasurable experience in 2633 two years ago due to noise and vibrations & don't want to relive that; I need all the beauty sleep that I can get. LOL)

Thanks for any comments from those in the know...:D

We stayed in #1048 in March and would not hesitate to stay on Deck 1 again. I think the sofa bed would be o.k. for an adult but I would put the shortest one on it. DD4 slept very well on it. The two portholes were great for us, each kid got to have their own. The split bath was a godsend for us. We were upgraded from GTY 11 and didn't know how much we would appreciate the extra bathroom space.

The reason I really liked Deck 1 was becuase it was so quiet. There was no hallway traffic except for people staying down there. It was extremely convenient to the gangways when we were in port. Coming back from St. Thomas, we were roasting in the hot sun. We were the first back into the comfortable air conditioning of our room. We didn't have to trudge up stairs, didn't have to wait for the elevator.

The other thing I liked was that we interacted a lot with many crew members. There was some sort of crew entrance by the midship elevators. We saw a fire drill going on at one point. Very interesting.

It was a convenient location as well, just two easy flights of stairs to get to Deck 3, no need to wait for a lift.

Enjoy your trip~!

Mickeyboat,

Thanks so much for your reply, I appreciate your response, and the relief of having a pleasant room locationwise and noisewise. I though the location would be an asset with a 3 year old, as well as the additional length of the room. If you have the opportunity, would you kindly confirm the set up of the room, i.e. beds against porthole wall, or sofa against wall? May sound crazy but we are trying to plan things out for the 3 year old before we get her into the room.
