upgrade to cat 3 from 4, what are the chances??

Just paid for upgrade to cat. 4 from 5,for 4 day wonder 10/27, hoping to get upgraded to cat 3 at port. what do you think the chances are, this is our second wonder cruise, we are dc, and cc members, but booked throug ta, not disney.

What are your chances? Slim to none.

Upgrades from Category 4 to Category 3 <i><b>rarely</b></i> happen, and when they do they don't appear to use any criteria such as DC or CC membership in making their decisions.

What about from a Cat. 6 to something higher?

If there is availability at the port you can always ask about paying for an upgrade from your Cat. 6. Most free upgrades (when they happen) occur from LOWER categories into the verandah staterooms, as DCL tries to free up lower-priced cabins if there is demand for them.

Is the cost to pay for an upgrade always the difference between the two Cat.'s or do they give you a reduced rate?

We'ver heard BOTH actually...that it was less to upgrade at the port or that it was more. It's one of those things that you won't really know until you try it yourself.

I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask at the port. I'll have to figure out what the difference is & if it would be worth our while to do it.

There are 80 category four cabins and 18 category three cabins, and 2 each of the category one and two. Mathematically, I would certainly agree that the probability of an upgrade to a cat 3 or higher are very slim.

It can happen though! We were in a Cat 4 and they upgraded us to a Cat 3. We were thrilled and even added someone to our room after we were upgraded(because we could now have 5 in the room). By the way, this was in May of last year and the ship was filled to capacity.

we'll, at least there is hope,I'll keep my fingers crossed and give it a shot at the port, if not cat 4 will be fine.

MBD Never give up hope for an upgrade. We sailed Sept.1 on the Wonder. 2 weeks before we sailed we received an upgrade from cat. 6 to cat. 3. It was a wonderful suprise. We had cabin 8100. 1 bedroom suite ,2 baths, double verandah. And being on concierge level was wonderful. Good Luck
