upgrade question

have any of you ever received a complementary upgrade to concierge ?
how did you do it?

Me: Are there any upgrades available?
CM: We already have you in one of our finest waterview rooms.
Me: Concierge?
CM: Yes, I can give you concierge priveleges.

This was at the YC. Didn't get concierge room, but got the magic card to get us to the floor where the lounge was located.

Two years ago we received an upgrade to Concierge at the Wilderness Lodge. Although it wasn't complimentary, it was a really good price. I believe it was $25.00/night extra. It was well worth it. We were originally booked Woods view and at check in I had asked if we could get a room where we would be able to see the fireworks. They offered us the concierge level. Only problem now is we liked the concierge experience so much, the family doesn't want to stay anywhere else. We were however able to get a good AP rate for concierge level this June at the Lodge. I think Disney knows exactly what they are doing when they offer upgrades! LOL

We had an interesting experience for our Nov 2002 trip. We booked thru AAA, for the Beach Club, but not for concierge, as too expensive for us. Our TA called the following day to say she had received fax confirming our stay at BC - CONCIERGE! She called them to notify them of the error, and they said they would honor the concierge stay as it was already in writing to us, and would not charge the extra amount!! We were on cloud 9, needless to say! last year when we booked BC again, DS wanted to know if WDW would make same mistake again - no such luck!
