Ok, I am confused. I am almost positive about a policy but someone said I was incorrect....Wasn't it the policy that if you booked a let's say a 9C and later on down the road want to upgrade to a Verandah cabin that you would pay the price the veranda cabin was on the original day you booked the 9C and not the current price? That was how I thought it worked but someone said that was incorrect. So now I don't know if I was wrong all along or it changed. :confused3:confused3

I know we have had this discussion on this board before and always thought you paid the booking day price and not the current price for an upgrade.

Thoughts????

Yes, that's how they "used to do things". Don't know if they're going to change that policy due to current circumstances, though.

I talked with a cast member today and they said yes, if you change and upgrade your room, the pricing would be still locked in for as if you would have booked on the date your first booked.

I‘ve done this multiple times - most recently on an October ‘19 cruise. It was still the policy this time last year :)

Does an early booking with a locked in price give you also an advantage if you upgrade in port on the day of embarkation. Or is it then the same price for everybody?

When you upgraded at the port (at least as of summer 2019, when we inquired) the cost was determined by a list of upgrade costs from room type to room type, based on the room you booked. That is, everyone moving from, say, 4B (Family Veranda) to V (Family Concierge) would have the same upgrade cost, no matter what they paid for their room originally. If you had a lower initial cost, you would have a lower total cost after upgrading. As with everything, this could change in the future.
