Upgrade passes twice or day after last use?

I purchaserd a 7-day park hopper with the intention of upgrading it to a Gold DVC pass tomorrow when the blackout period ends. My problem is that we checked ended up starting our pass one day early and today is our 7th day and still in the blackout period.

Do any of these options work?

1) Upgrade to an 8-day today and then to a Gold tomorow
2) Upgrade to Gold on the way out tonight
2) Upgrade tomorrow even though we used our last day today

I'm leaning toward 2) since we won't need the Gold passport until tomorrow.

On a related note, we had a PAP that expired a couple weeks ago. Are we eligible for a renewal price on the Gold?

My understanding is you have to have at least 1 day left in order to upgrade to anything.

I upgraded my 7-day hopper to a Gold AP renewal with some difficulty last night at AK at park closing. First the CM said that I could not upgrade to a Gold AP since my park hopper started inside the blackout dates and I used those days. The CM double checked with a supervisor and came back and said we could. Then the CM said that I could not get the renewal. She checked and said we could. Then she said we could not apply the park hopper to the price and when she checked she said we could.

In all it took 30-40 mins to get it done but I was successful with a bit of patience and perseverance.

And glad that thanks to you that CM got a serious education! Imagine all the people she's messed up who didn't insist she doublecheck!

You had some complicated issues there. I'm not surprised it was so difficult. Just curious, when did your previous AP expire?

No, she just didn't know that she could do and and then she didn't know how to do it. No override was needed. Our Gold did get backdated to the 19th but that was expected and not a big deal because the black out dates for dec 2016 starts on the 19th anyway.

I read on another thread someone recommending buying the 4 day WP & PH from UT. (a $37 saving off gate price), and then upgrading to DVC AP.
I will need the Platinum (hope to go again Dec 2106 during blackout period), but don't want or need Platinum Plus. Does anyone know if I can upgrade to Platinum, not Platinum Plus, if the tickets I am using include WP & more? I won't use any of those entitlements.

You can upgrade a ticket with WPF&M... to a NON-WPF&M AP, if you have not used any of the WPF&M options before doing the upgrade.
