We purchased 7 day hoppers no expiration in April. Used 3 days and planned on using 3 or 4 in June. Didn't plan on any other trips so didn't even think about AP's. Now we have another trip in Aug/Sept. Looks like the difference is about $137 1 adult, 1 child PAP vs 7 day premium.
Can we go to guest services in June and pay the $137 and upgrade to PAP's?

Yes, but don't ask the CM to "Upgrade", LOL. Instead, tell the CM that you want to turn in the hoppers for a "dollar credit" to be applied to the purchase of DVC-discounted PAPs.

In "Disney speak" upgrade means to receive a credit equal to the entire purchase price of a ticket and apply it towards the purchase of a higher value ticket. Upgrades must be done within 14 days of first use and if you upgrade to an AP or PAP, the AP/PAP is backdated to the first day the original ticket was used.

It has been reported that some CMs will say no when guests ask to upgrade a partially used ticket that is beyond 14 days from first use. So be sure to ask for a "Dollar Credit" - and don't forget your DVC membershop card & photo ID, LOL.

Best wishes -

If you can afford the investment, you might consider buying new AP and keep the hoppers for future trips when AP might not work as well for you.

Thanks!
We should have bought AP's in April but everytime we buy AP's we wind up going more that we had planned. Start out saving money only to spend much much more in the long run. I did like the idea of having the hoppers for future trips. I just like having AP's vs hoppers. If we want to go to Epcot just for Illuminations I don't feel like I'm wasting a whole day of admission.

Check on E-bay as people sell hoppers on it for a nice penny. You can only do it if they do not have the fingerprint deal associated with them. I sold two 4 day hoppers that had one day left for $190 bucks on two different occasions. We are just getting the 10 day expiring next time and I hate keeping the others laying around just waiting to get lost or ruined.

I have five 10 day non-expiring hoppers that I bought for a trip last January. Two of them have 5 days left, and three of them have 4 days left. I called Member Services and they said I could turn them in for credit towards annual passes. We are going in October. However, they said they couldn't tell me what they would give me for them until we got there. Does this sound right?

Disney will not quote ticket upgrade prices, or verify "days left" over the phone.

And you can only turn in one old ticket for each AP/PAP purchased. You can't use all five hoppers as a credit towards one AP or PAP.

Best wishes -

P.S. to larfamily - Doesn't sound like you wanted to do this (trade in 5 for 1), but you might be surprised to know how many people think you can, so I wanted to posted in case anyone was thinking of "cleaning out" their old tickets, LOL

What I'm looking to do is upgrade five 10-day passes(with 5 days left) to five annual passes. When I bought and used them in January I had no intentions of going again this year. Now we're going again in October.

I'm trying to figure out if I'm better off doing this or buying five more hoppers (I need 2 more days). Has anybody on this board done this, and approximately what did it cost per ticket?

I'd still look at new passes and keep the old ones. Or likely even better, just plan around the 5 days and look for non park options the other days like minor parks, off property, shopping, resort or pool hopping or just relaxing by the pool. We frequently keep a day or even two that's flexible for rain, etc and take it easy that day without burning an admission day. That way if it looks to rain a lot, we can shift it back and adjust our park plans.
