Upgrade Gold Annual pass mid-year

I have the DVC gold annual pass that I got in June, but this year we are going to make an appearance at Christmas during the blackout period.

Is it possible to upgrade my gold pass to a platinum pass mid year? I tried calling today and just kept getting transferred and transferred with no actual answer.

I spoke with someone about this last week. Apparently you can call the AP help desk and upgrade on the phone. This is a very new capability. I accessed this AP help desk through member services. Just said I had questions about the ap.

Yes, you can upgrade your AP at any time. Just be aware that the fee is not pro-rated and your expiration date remains unchanged.

I did finally get someone at the AP help desk. They said it was possible but that I had to go through member services. So we will see what happens tomorrow.

This was not possible as of December of last year for a DVC rate pass.

Member services connected me directly to the Ticket office and explained my upgrade situation. Since I already had rooms for both Xmas and Spring Break booked, they made an exception and upgraded me over the phone.

That is great that they did that. Last year we didn’t plan on Xmas, got the gold pass and then changed our mind and were there for 2 weeks. Even with the rooms booked for 16 nights they wouldn’t do over the phone and said we had to be in person. So to secure good fast passes we went down for a weekend in September!

Yeah, I think I got lucky. I have heard conflicting reports that the over the phone policy has changed, or you just need to get the right person on the phone. Worst case we were willing to go and upgrade at the park and just get whatever fast passes we could when we showed up.

Nice to know they do this now. Used to have to do it in person, which certainly was not in line with a few of the "keys to the kingdom" principles (Courtesy and efficiency)

In the past you would have had to buy a friggin ticket for those days to get your fast passes, then upgrade once you got to the park, then use the other tickets and upgrade those to you APs next time or use them at a later date.
