anyone ever upgraded from a cat. 6 gar. stateroom? surely there is no where else they could move you up to ... except a suite...fat chance!;) upgrade

Last summer we were upgraded from a 6 to a 4. Not much difference except we were now on deck 8 and the stateroom was about 5 feet longer. It was nice because there were 4 of us. 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Not nice enough to book a 4 instead of a 6 for future cruises, but if they want to upgrade me again, I'll take it!

Nope - verandah was exactly the same size. By having the extra 5' (at the verandah end) we had an extra chair. The extra space accomodates the murphy bed that pulls down from the wall if needed. When down I hear it blocks the veranda door. Don't know, because we had no use for it.

Just got a call last night that we were upgraded from a Cat. 7 to a Cat. 4 for the September 12th sailing. Booking a Cat. 7, I certainly didn't expect an upgrade!

We also were upgraded from a Cat. 6 to a Cat 4 in May! :) I loved being on Deck 8, there aren't as many cabins up there so it's quieter and you we were pretty close to the big suites, so we got to peak in once or twice. ;) (and actually a fellow DIS'er was staying in the Roy Disney suite and gave us a tour!)

Deck 8 is also just one deck below Topsiders, so it was quick trip up there. Some people say there's noise from above, but we didn't hear a thing!

are any cat 4 toward mid ship? DD 5yrs. has a real tendency toward motion sickness... hoping dramamine and fresh air from the balcony helps...

I realize that everyone is different; but, I am very prone to motion sickness. Can't ride in the backseat of a car, swinging bridges, rocking chairs, .... That being said - we have been on 3 Disney cruises and I have never gotten ill. We've stayed mid-ship, aft and forward. Always had veranda and if I started to not feel well, I would just open door and not look at the rushing water. Always felt better w/in minutes. The thing I also avoided was not watching the water go by as I'm walking on the deck. Now the excursions were a different thing. I was willing to swim back from St. John to St. Thomas! I got very ill on the small boats associated with the excursions. I was taking Bonine (like it better than Dramamine, JMO) and loaded up on ginger capsules and drank lots of ginger ale. Hope this puts your mind at ease.

Yes...there's lots of Cat 4's that are mid ship. We were in 8564, a short walk to the mid ship elevators and just a little further walk to the forward elevators.
