We've never done a dining plan before, so forgive some probably ridiculous questions. 1) Can you upgrade Quick Service to Regular for just one day of your stay. If ONE DAY ONLY we want a sit-down meal, is that upgrade possible? 2) If we get the Regular plan, do we have to go to a sit-down restaurant once a day? Or can we go to 2 quick service restaurants instead?

Thanks for your help.

Sorry, but you cannot upgrade one night of your stay. All nights (and people on the reservation) have to have the same plan. You could do a split stay, but that involves having multiple resort reservations if you wanted to mix DDP and QSDP and you might end up having to move rooms. I wouldn't do this for a single night. If your only going to have one TS meal, I'd pay OOP for that and not worry about trying to figure out how to get the DDP for that one meal.

If you have the regular dining plan (DDP), you do not have to go to one TS meal per day. You get TS, CS, and snack credits based on the number of nights of your stay and you can use them in any combination/order you want. The credits would be available from when you check in until 11:59 pm the day you check out (midnight).

Let's say you are staying five nights, so you would have five TS, five CS, and five snack credits per person on your resort reservation. If you wanted to eat a TS breakfast, a TS lunch, and a TS dinner on the first day, you could do that. You would have used three of your five TS credits on that day, but that's allowable. It's the same for the QS credits. If you wanted to eat two QS meals in one day, you can do that.

You must have the same dining plan for each night of your stay. You must upgrade all nights, or upgrade none of them. To accomplish having different dining plans during a single stay, it's necessary to make separate room reservations. This could be a problem if you are purchasing tickets as part of a package reservation.

If you know you want only one table service meal your entire trip, the only way to accomplish that is to pay out of pocket for the table service meal. Purchasing the regular plan and using all the TS credits but one for QS will seriously devalue the plan for the price you'd be paying for it, because it's strictly a one for one trade - for your TS credit, you can receive only one QS meal. If price doesn't matter to you, that's another thing.

If you are getting the dining plan free via an offer from Disney, it may not matter to you how much value you get out of the credits, or just the upgrade price might be worth it to you to be able to use credits for that one TS you want.
