Upgrade child to adult?

For our trip the first week of November, we got the free QS plan for 2 adults and 2 children. Our dd, who will turn 7 while we're there, would much rather eat from the adult menu than the children's menu. Is it possible to upgrade her to the adult plan? If so, since we got the free QS plans, would we only have to pay the difference for an adult ticket for her for our stay? How would I go about doing this?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Yes, you would just bump her age up to a 10 year old and pay the adult ticket price.

Yes,

We have just done this with our dd, we have the DDP and it was $43 to upgrade her to an adult. Worth every bit of it, as the kids food is so rubbish!!!

Thank you! So they don't care if I call and say that my 6 year old is suddenly 10? LOL. And would I just call the resort, or is there someone else I should call? This is all new to us. :)

We are going in April, and booked my 9 year old as a child (which of course she is), but we had just about decided to call and upgrade her to an adult. Then in the last few days I started thinking that maybe it wasn't worth it after all, it is a LOT more $$ on the DxDP!!

But now you all are making me second-guess my second-guessing, lol!!! Part of me wants to just call and do it so the decision is made... But then if I change my mind again, I'm thinking it would raise a few more eyebrows if I tried to call and change her back... Oh what to do, sigh.

But yes, as far as Disney is concerned they don't seem to care if you want to call your 5 year old an adult. I just hope they don't get strict about letting people upgrade when promotions like FD or SPD are out. That's my biggest fear about not going ahead and upgrading her now.

Same thing here... We have four kids only one is over 10, so I upgraded my middle one to adult. Actually thought about doing it with the next one. We have fd so all we had to pay was the difference from child to adult for our 7 day passes, which was 20$. However then we upgraded from qs to basic and it ended up costing more, but I figure worth it:)

Just call the regular reservation line

You got me thinking about this. My 9 year old daughter hates having to order from the children's menu - and since we have free dining as well I think I will go ahead and upgrade her as well. This will make her day!

So glad I found this thread - I didn't realize you could do it.

I actually tried and the CM I spoke with would not let me upgrade my oldest to an adult.

I've heard a few scattered reports over the last few months of CMs saying no. But if you want to do it, I would keep calling back and asking, chances are you'll get someone else who will do it. Plenty of people have had success.

But that's exactly why I was nervous about not upgrading now, before any special deals come out especially. Did the math again last night though, and I just don't think it makes sense to upgrade in our case - it costs about $75 MORE per day (plus a little extra for the ticket upgrade), and I think we can probably buy her an adult entree OOP at our non-buffet meals cheaper than that. Then DS(2) can have her kid's meal.

I think it's a better deal on the regular DDP though, and especially if you are getting FD or S/P/D!

Try again! My husband was able to do it for my daughter earlier today. Now I am nervous our friends will not be able to do it for their child!

I was able to upgrade my son 2 days ago without problem. We are on the S/P/D deal and the regular dining plan. Our cost didn't change at all to upgrade him. I was very pleased. I even considered upgrading my 7 year old, but I think she'll be happier with the kids' menu.

Wow...what an amazing deal! The difference in the part tickets from child to adult is tiny. And with kid's meals being so reasonable you can pay out of pocket and use those credits for more 2 credit meals and save a bundle. I gotta rent me a kid.

Hi, we upgraded our two daughters (7 & 8), it only cost is around $80 (for the upgraded park tickets as we've got free dining). We have 14 day tickets btw.

The CM was extremely helpful and she said that lots of customers upgrade.

We all can't wait to sample and share 4 adult meals instead of just 2 for our 15 ADR's ;) :yay:

Just FYI I did call, and the CM told me it was absolutely possible and Disney was totally ok with it, we'd just have to pay the difference in the adult ticket price. She couldn't upgrade my dd herself though since we booked through a travel agent, so if you booked through a TA, you'll need to contact them to have it upgraded. :)
