upgrade at port question

We have a guaranteed cat. 11 room. We would like to try get an upgrade at the port. How much of a discount do they give you if you want to pay for an upgrade at the port? Anyone have any good luck with this?

We were just on the Magic Feb.7-14 and when we got to the terminal, with great anticipation of getting an upgrade, I was the very first person into the terminal and the very firt person to be waited on and guess what it was competely booked!! So needless to say no upgrade, when we got on board we went straight to guest services and told them we would like to upgrade our room should anything come available. The wonderful person cheking us in gave us this tidbit, anyway sometimes people don't show up (can you imagine??!!) or something happens and they might have a stateroom available. We finally got the call at 5:45 that there were in fact not one stateroom available, so goes my story if you don't get an upgrade don't let it get to you, how much time do you really spend in the room anyway? On the December 14-18 2003 Wonder cruise I had a category 11 (not guar.). At port, I inquired about a category 8 and paid a total of $252 for two adults for that upgrade.
