(UPDT: 2/21) Losing The Glass Slippers to RUN like a Princess! Serial-PTRer report!

Grr, trying this again since my first attempt was sacrificed to the Internet gods.

The condensed version:

Cookies + cupcakes + runny icing = :lmao:

Of course I knew you had fun! Definitely not Wdw but still fun. If we get the season passes you can come with us on a bring a friend day. :thumbsup2

Photo scavenger hunt using park maps as a checklist... Honey for Pooh, feather for Dumbo, bandana for Pirates... Give them a map, a marker, and a list of ideas but also leave it open to their own interpretation if they find something better than your suggestions.

The first response was wittier and more detailed... But you'll just have to take my word for it. ;)

But...I don't get it! I want the first response, where you explained it to me like I'm 6. Send me an email. Is it something I can throw together before Tuesday? :confused3

Yes, you can absolutely do it before Tuesday! :thumbsup2

Just print out park maps from the website (do they have printable maps, I can't remember), highlight the rides/attractions you plan to do and then make a list of things that relate to those rides. They can then do a photo scavenger hunt to check off as many attractions as they can. So, if they find a bottle of honey they can check Pooh off of the list. A pic of a pie and they can check off Philharmagic, etc. They can either use your ideas or find some of their own. Some more ideas of things they can find:

  • Cowboy hat or boots for TSM
  • Guitar for RRR
  • Mars bar for MS
  • Oranges for Soarin'
  • Train tracks for EE (kind of a stretch but you get the idea)

I don't think they need to find something for every ride and encourage them to be creative- even if something seems like a stretch if they can explain then it's good. The main idea is to give Eleanor an excuse to really study the map and she and Savannah can talk about elements of the rides to familiarize her with them. Super easy on your part- just printing out maps and idea lists. And since it's cheap you could give them a few bucks to grab a soda to refresh themselves at "Club Cool" (Country Mart) while they're out and about. You might also have some prizes- maybe a bag of mini candy bars and they get one for each item they check off their map. Maybe two candy bars if they find something of their own that you didn't suggest.

Get it?? :confused3 Honestly, I just pulled it out of the air so I'm not sure how much sense it makes... :rolleyes1

Oh, ok, I get it more now! Doh! I don't know why I couldn't figure out what you were saying last night! I get easily confused at night.

Found you by searching for Princess Half trip reports :) I'll be joining you in February, but I'm doing the Glass Slipper! Looking forward to following along while you train and plan!

WELCOME!!!!!!!!! :dance3:

GSC!!!! Excited for us both! I've already got my GSC plans for 2015 in the works and dh on board! Always planning a trip... :lmao:

Hello everyone! I don't have a ton to report on the trip planning because Disney has decided to taunt me and is withholding February hours at this point. No matter, I'm making my ADR's on the 25th, regardless. I doubt I would change my plans at this point for hours and we'll have hoppers, so it will be fine. At least that's what I keep repeating to myself...over...and over...

I do, however, have yet another fairy godmother sending me pixie dust! The other day I opened the mailbox to find a small package. When I opened it up, I found this BEAUTIFUL and PERFECT RunDisney lanyard!!

I squealed in delight! When I found out that Ann had purchased it on her last trip, thinking it was pretty and then realized what it might mean to me and sent it to me, I was so honored! :lovestruc

I'm pretty excited, I think I may put the card holder thingie I have on it and hold my tickets/money on the trip! For now, it's making friends with my medals on my medal rack! :goodvibes

I promised her a pic of me with it and it just so happens my TeamRunDisney tank just arrived and matches perfectly!

My training is going well, I ran 8 miles for the first time yesterday and was overjoyed about it! I haven't actually started Half training yet, that does not start until fall, but I wanted to get my mileage up so that I can gradually build up to the half and be really strong for it. (I'm sure running talk isn't exactly interesting stuff though, so I'll stop rambling about it!)

Here's me right when I finished. A hot mess, but elated!

I know, pictures of me, myself, and I aren't actually the best PTR material but I've given Ann so much crap about always posting photos with her updates that I have to make sure I'm not a hypocrite! ;)

In other trip news, I have decided that I want to request Pool/Canal view, close to BC when we are at BCV AND Southwest has finally dropped their prices and I may have some news about that next week. Everyone keep their fingers crossed that they won't sell out or bump the prices back up before next Wednesday!!!

ok, Karen, you didn't need to make it sound like I made a HUGE sacrifice by giving it to you!! :lmao: But, like you did explain, since I knew how much it would mean to you, I needed to send it to you. I got my new pink one at GOODWILL!!! Paid a whopping 99 cents for mine!! Go Me!! :cool1: I just am so happy that you love it so much. To make others happy really does make me happy!!! It looks beautiful on you as well as the new t-shirt. And great job with 8 miles!! You go girl! That's how many more days we have until we get there......OMG!!!!!

It might not have been a huge sacrifice, but it was a huge gesture! It really made me feel special. :flower3:

I.cannot.believe. you are at 8 days!!!!!!!!! OMG, wasn't it just last year that you were leaving??? It seems like the years just fly by when you are planning Disney trips! :confused3 :lmao:

I love the running talk! :thumbsup2 Great job on 8 miles. Those personal long distances are really empowering and should be celebrated. So Congrats!!!:cool1:

We just did a nine miler on Saturday and it felt great. You are going to be so ready for that half!

It really gave me a confidence boost! I feel like I have a lot of time to build up those extra 5 miles on top of that! ;) I'm actually taking a forced rest day here, I was supposed to run, but I have been REALLY sore lately and felt like even though my brain wants to keep going, my body needs to rest sometimes! It's a hard lesson but I'm determined not to get injured! :thumbsup2

That's smart. ::yes:: The rests in between long runs are just as important as the runs themselves. Gives your body the chance to heal and get stronger for the next push on distance. I still remember when I first started training, my DH told me that one day I'd head out for a run and say, "oh, it's just 8 miles". At the time, I couldn't imagine ever thinking that way, but he was right!

Whoohooo! Exciting, yet brief, update!! :cool1:

I got our airfare yesterday!!!!!!!!!!

SWA finally lowered the prices enough for me to purchase our tickets, so it's official! There's no turning back now! We arrive in Orlando on Friday February 21st at 10:55am and we leave the following Thursday the 27th at 4:20pm!! Having the flights paid for always makes the trip seem more real, like it's really happening. Probably b/c I'll go and sleep on a pool lounger if I have to, but I have a way there! ;)

Savannah does not love flying, she was totally freaked out last time because she didn't remember flying previously. Luckily our flights went well and were not as bad as she imagined, but she's still a bit nervous. Must have a bit of her mama in her, she took pics when she got really nervous...

I'm hoping Eleanor's excitement will be contagious and she won't be as nervous this time. Eleanor has never been on a plane before, but is excited!

My IL's are here visiting, we have not seen them for three years, since we went to WDW in 2009! So, this is a shortie update! Oh, the girls have been talking about their outfits and just generally getting excited about the trip (yep, 189 days out. LOL) and they came to me the other day to show me a shirt they found that was really cute from Wet Seal. Turns out it was buy one get one half, so I ordered them last night.

Oh and on the running front, the 8 miler may have pushed it a bit much for my body. I've done 7 before and 6 many times, but 8 may have been too fast of an increase. I'm having some heel/achilles pain, so I'm not running the rest of the week and it's already feeling better. Good thing my IL's are here to keep me busy! :thumbsup2

Woohoo!! So glad you got your flights! And it looks like you only have to leave at the crack of dawn on your way down, not the way back. :thumbsup2

Adorable shirts! :cutie:

Kya is nervous about flying as well and completely freaked out the last time we went to WDW (like crying that she didn't want to go as we were boarding the plane). It's hearing Savannah and Leslee talk about the awful long drive (and our awful drive home from Gulf Shores last year, lol) that ultimately made her ASK to fly. Hopefully Savannah will also feel that flying is the lesser of two evils.

Have a fun visit! :goodvibes

Congrats on the airfare!!! That makes it SO real!!!

I just rented a car yesterday which was the last on my must 'to-do' list for our trip.

Sorry about the injury! That stinks! :(
