Updates for the Polynesian

Hi, we arrive at the Poly in 3 1/2 weeks. We have GV booked and I would love to stay in one of the new rooms. Do you think my chances are better if I call ahead and have them note this request now or just wait until check-in? Or are my chances about the same? I don't have a specific longhouse in mind (although, I would love Fiji).

I won't mind one of the older rooms too ;)

Aloha Michele,

I am not a huge supporter of requests but that is not to say they ignore them. They do their best to fill any and all requests but I am not so sure they are completely effective in achieving what you want but I am a big fan of politely asking the CM at check in to see if anything is available in a certain location. Go ahead and give them a call and have Fiji noted but just go with alternate locations in mind.

Have a great trip.

Aloha

Steve

Thanks Steve, I knew you would have the perfect answer.

I'm not a huge supporter of requests either - and out of all my times at Disney, I haven't made one single special request. That way, I'm never disappointed. I think I may just go crazy this time and request Fiji! I won't be disappointed if we don't get this location though.

Your welcome but I don’t know if that is the perfect answer. It is just my opinion and I am sure there are many that disagree. I think since you have the right attitude about it that you will have a good time no matter where you end up.

Just bumping this up to see if anyone has heard any more about the reopening date for Hawaii. I emailed Steve and he said "they have no guess as to when it will open." I received an email from a CM on 9/27 and she said, "I do not have to much information regarding the renovations. However they have began and it appears that they will be back up on schedule."

Just wondering if anyone else has heard anything. We're at 23 days and counting and I'm starting to get very nervous and anxious...Even more so than I've been. :goodvibes

I asked and they ignored my question. Not that I blame them-what are they going to say other than "I do not have to much information regarding the renovations. However they have began and it appears that they will be back up on schedule."

I think things look better for you than me! Hope to be able to wave hello to you on the 23rd in Hawaii! What time do you arrive?

We actually just added a night and arrive on the 22nd for one night at the Contemporary Tower. Then we'll move over to POLY LVC (hopefully).

Hopefully, we'll pass each other and you'll be able to tell me how great the new rooms are!
