Last week they told me they were working on cleaning up Hawaii to prepare for it to close on Saturday and it looks like it closed on time. Still no word that any of the new rooms have opened even though Rapa Nui was to open some of the floors in August.

I will be in the process of adding some new info and lots of photos of views from different longhouses and other areas around the Polynesian as well as photos sent to me from many of you including photos of the redesigned suites. I also have some of the info to edit still that I hope to get to this week.

I changed my email so that all the Polynesian reports, questions and comments will go to a new email so I can keep track of them better and I am going to set up a list so that if anyone who wants to be on it will get updates or messages that I will send to everyone on that list. The new email will be polynesian_tikiman@yahoo.com. I will try to email more of the updates or a list of what is new on the pages instead of filling up the forum with posts since they don’t want me to post my web address.

I am also working on the bandwidth issue so you may or may not notice some changes in the look and hopefully by next month the site will not be shutting down. I will be sending out more info about that to who ever is on the list using the new email address.

On my last trip I met some new CMs that I hope will be able to help me stay on top of the changes so I don’t have to drive the other CMs I have known for a while crazy with questions.

Keep an eye out for some of my info and a link to my page in the next Unofficial Guide to WDW 2006.

Aloha

Steve

Mahalo, Steve, for taking the time to update your site and fans of the Polynesian!

Thanks, Steve. Do you happen to have any more news on Hawaii? :listen:

THe last emails I got from concierge were last week and they were cleaning out things to get ready to close on Saturday. They won't know any more and many of them are taking vacation or being moved to other resorts or other positions at the Polynesian. As far as when they will be done no one can answer. It will just be a day by day process to see if they can get it done on time but so far none of the longhouses have finished on time and I am sure they want to get it done right instead of fast.

Thanks, Steve. It does seem like a lot to do in a short amount of time. Maybe someone who is at the Polynesian now will have some new info about what they see going on there. I would think it would take a lot of workers to get it done in the time frame that has been given.

I also hope that those of us with reservations for next month will get a phone call sooner rather than later if we have to be moved. :)

Thanks Steve :) We are booked to stay in the Hawaii longhouse 5 weeks from this Friday. I am very hopeful that it will be completed by then, but of course as history has shown, I am not expecting it to be done.

I would love to be surprised by them getting it done on time, this time :flower:

As a back-up, I have some ideas in my head as to where our second and third choice rooms would be. We want to be on the monorail and we want to stay concierge. I also know what I *don't* want. So...if it comes down to having to choose some place else to stay, I hope Disney will work with those of us who will be forced to move elsewhere. :sunny:

Would love to be on your mailing list too :3dglasses

Just email polynesian_tikiman@yahoo.com and ask to be put on the list. Once I get things organized I will just email all the addresses to give a heads up about any changes to the pages and other info.

Steve:

Do you happen to know if the IPO staff is still in place, during this work? Now that I think about it, I guess they would have to be, to service the Tonga guests. I am planning a few things for this next trip that I will need their assistance with. :)

Seaspray, I'm sure IPO staff will still be working. Afterall, they are constantly helping future guests not just those arriving soon.

And they're not located in Hawaii. ;)

LOL! I know they're not located in the Hawaii building. And the more I thought about it, I remembered they also service the Wilderness Lodge concierge guests too. Thanks :sunny:

As well as GF. ;)

When we stayed at the GF in Sugar Loaf, caller id was the same as when we stay in Hawaii. It says "Polynesian Resort" or something like that. Same phone number as well on caller id. Or at least it was the last time we stayed in SL which was 2.5 years ago now....really getting close to 3.

I believe the Epcot resorts share a planning office together too although we've not stayed there.

That is news to me. In all my discussions with IPO when I am at the Polynesian they only mentioned being there for Polynesian guests and taking calls and emails for the WL since they do not have a full concierge. From what I knew the Contemporary and the GF have their own concierge staff for pre-planning but maybe I am wrong. :smooth:

Aloha

Steve

I don't know at all about the CR. And all I know about the GF is from our stays in SL which were in 1/02 and 12/02 into 1/03. But caller id showed the Polynesian. It was one of those moments of cognitive dissonance the first time it happened.

Now they could be different groups of CMs all working out of one resort. Or it could be that a CM who is really John Doe is Jim when he does Polynesian guests , Joe when he helps GF guests and Jack for WL guests. :flower: There are different contact #s but at least at that point, the calls came from the same #.

Of course, it could have changed. But to me it makes sense to have it centrally located. Most guests probably use the same restaurants, spa, etc.. So sharing knowledge and time seems more efficient.

Doesn't the WL have a full concierge now as well? And even before, you would have thought the guests would have the same needs?

Or maybe it was because we were Sugar Loaf not RPC but that makes no sense to me.

I bet Tyler knows! :sunny:

Thank you for the updates...I'm looking forward to my first stay at the Poly this December!
