Updates for Opening

It sounds like that having the hotel reservation will not mean you are guaranteed to get a park reservation.

Basically, people should not assume that because you are booked that getting in to the park is a given right now.

Have to say I am totally surprised by this.

I can see riots happening over this....or mass cancellations at Disney hotels.

Given there capacity restrictions part of me thinks they want folks to cancel to an extent
Ding we have a winner. They can't support all of their current resort hotel reservations for cash and DVC. This means they simply want people to cancel so they don't have to for people.

I wonder if people are calling to cancel are they rescheduling them if they want to postpone or just telling them call us back when we are accepting reservations again.

There are some posts on the Rumors board from someone with good connections that DVC and AP holders may like what comes out of this.

It also sounds like this may be more of a statement that they don’t want any assumptions, especially at the beginning if someone can’t get exactly what they want, when they want it,

Only 2 parks will be open July 11th and as long as someone is at an open resort, Disney can’t cancel them.

It sounds like they will open up 30 days out to reserve park days for your entire trip.

So, maybe it will be more short term than long term, but probably smart to put it out there,

Guests with trips from June 22nd to July 4th have the option to cancel, rebook different dates from July 11th to end of year at a DVC resort or Ft Wilderness, paying the difference or keep their trip and Disney will move them for free to DVC or Ft Wilderness....but they have no choice where they will go.

If they chose to rebook, and pay, once more resorts open, they can try for a different resort

Here’s the official language for SAB. It mentions that YC and BC guests will be able to use the BCV pools,,,since they are not opening with DVC...we have no idea when they will...I think it is a hint that we may see SAB closed longer than just this initial time.

But, that’s my speculation.

I think Disney is doing everything possible to limit the number of guests visiting once it reopens. Moved reservations are costing the customers more, limiting dining, transportation, attractions. Disney wants people to cancel.

My question is how long they want to continue these restrictions? Thanksgiving thru New Years are probably the busiest times of year for Disney. Will they still limit capacity and all of the restrictions even then? Where will people be moved to when all resorts have been booked to capacity already? Will there be a lottery system as to who gets to keep their reservations? What about fixed week owners?

I think they will raise capacity as quickly as they can based on guidelines from government,

Just to clarify, the only cash guests paying more for stays are ones who are moving dates right now. Disney can only offer them DVC or Ft, Wilderness as those are the ones known to be open.

Guests from June 22nd to July 4th check in who decide to keep their trip are being moved to open DVC or Ft. Wilderness for free. Disney is not charging....but the guest cant choice where to go,

By end of the week, we are supposed to hear more info about reopening of WDW hotels and what policy will be in place for guests of resorts still closed...no one knows if it will be the same policy or not.

From info shared by others, it does sound like not everyone may be moved and that whatever criteria is used, there is nothing a guest can do, From what I have been told, Disney is hoping to be able to move as many as possible until more resorts open up.
