UPDATED: The start of a TR - slowly writing blog, new posts up

Am loving your blog ehsmum. Just reading the NY part and seeing the photos makes me miss NY already and we only left two days ago :rotfl:

Great NYC update.....I loved your picture in Times Square...you know...that's the DoubleTree Hotel right behind you? :thumbsup2
Wonder if AussieTravellers noticed that too?

I did see that! Made me a little homesick, although we are at WDW now so should feel homesick for NY at WDW.

I noticed it too! ;). When aussietravellers first posted about the Doubletree Guest Suites I couldn't place it, but then she posted a photo and I recognised it straight away! We walked past there every day :).

New York is fabulous! I absolutely adore it. I went there 20 years ago on my own and people scared me so much by telling me I was going to be raped/mugged/murdered that I was terrified and didn't enjoy myself as much as I should have. So for the last 20 years I've been dreaming of going back and I'm so happy to have done it. If you can swing a visit when you're in the US I'd definitely say do it! :)

I've done day 2 in NYC

http://clare-usa2010.blogspot.com/2010/09/new-york-day-2.html

We are off to Sydney for the school holidays today so I won't be able to update for a couple of weeks. I might try and do some more later today once I've finished packing (should say once I've started ;) ) but if I don't get back today, I'll be back in a couple of weeks. I'm sure the suspense will be killing you all :lmao:.

Oh WOW! I'm starstruck! I adore Kelsey Grammer.

I was bemused to think that the Seinfield tour would have been held up for....a bunch of Aussies??? That must be a first. Sorry that you ended up with the raw deal of musical chairs and I hope that you got something good with the voucher.

I love :lovestruc that picture you took of CZJ. It's the first one I've ever seen of her that reminds me of how she looked in the Darling Buds of May (and before I get shouted down, she was the only reason I stayed watching the show).

Have a great trip to Sydney and I'm sure that I won't be the only one waiting for you to return for your next installment. :surfweb:

OMG.... What an exciting report! CZJ and Kelsey Grammer!!!!!!! Sounds like an awesome day.

I would have been a bit peeved about the seating for the bus part of the tour, but it still looked like a great tour. I am a big Seinfeld fan so would have loved that!

Have a great time in Sydney. Looking forward to reading more about the trip.

Ok, this is the 3rd TR I'm catching up on tonight! I'm glad to read so much about New York. I'm more excited than ever to be there myself come December. The photos are just amazing!

Have a great time in Sydney!!!

Yes, I was very excited to see Kelsey Grammer! We got a couple of free things from Kenny Kramer (an ASSMAN licence plate :rotfl: a coffee mug and a shot glass) but the stuff we really wanted wasn't offered so we had to pay for that. DH got a t-shirt, the boys got hats and I got a book, so he still made extra money off us.

It was a fun tour regardless, it just would have been nicer to be able to see something from the coach!

Your NY part is definitely making me want to visit "next time" we head to the States!

Do it! I can't rave enough about NYC :)

I can't wait to hear about your trip, shushh! It's our goal now to visit NYC in every season. We've done it in summer and it was stinking hot, I can't wait to go back and see it in the winter one day.

Sorry for the big break in posts but we've just got back from Sydney. I've put up our 3rd day in NYC, will get some more done over the weekend :).

The Yankee stadium looks awesome! I love the YMCA bit. So cute! I really wish we could fit some sort of sporting event it but the itinerary is chock-ablock. We wanted to watch some roller derby but the season ends in November apparently. We'll have to go back. I'm hoping this will be no later than 2013. I'm trying to convince DH to go back in Sep next, what with free dining, the strong dollar, kids sail free on Caribbean cruises...

Your shots of Yankee Stadium are fantastic. And aren't you glad you got a TRUE REAL LIFE EXPERIENCE of the New York Subway?
Thanks for sharing.

Another fantastic day's blog! I was tearing up :sad1: at the Ground Zero pictures.
And that is still a lot of money to pay for Madame T! I remember paying fifteen pounds in London....far too many years ago.....gosh, I wonder what the entry fee there is now!??

Glad you enjoyed the subway. I'm a firm believer in trying out local public transportation when on holiday (well...in most locations I've been to...except LA :rotfl:). I believe that you learn a lot about the people and the city that way.

Well I should clarify - I loved the whole subway experience EXCEPT for the smell! Some of those stations really stunk !!

I know I didn't pay that much for Madame Tussaud's London 15 years ago either, but out of curiosity I checked their prices and a family ticket is 99pounds, so everything is more expensive these days. The price included the guidebook and the 4D movie experience and we had a really fantastic time, so it was worth it :).

Another great day! I shall have to remember to head towards the right ferry when we go visit the statue of Liberty. It was nice to read about your boys enjoying their surroundings. The photos of them playing at the water fountain were really lovely. I hope I'll be able to do the same when I'm there. Enjoy my surroundings and not just rush around.

You've given me another dilemma. When am I going to squish Madame Tussaud's!!!! I too was going to skip it...

I just realised I had three days to catch up on.

Love your blog! The Yankees game looked so fun! Ground Zero looked like such a special tour, I wish we had done that. We did drive past on the bus tour but I didn't realise they did a tour there. I would love to have done that even though it would have been very emotional I think.

If you don't have tickets to go up to the crown you can just as easily catch the free Statten Island ferry and take pics of the Statue of Liberty as you pass it. We had ferry tickets as part of our NYCitypass, but I couldn't get crown access tickets so there wasn't anything for us to do there other then take a few pictures. I think the Statten Island Ferry would have been just as good.

It was very emotional but I'm very glad that we did it.

I've done another post
