UPDATED: The start of a TR - slowly writing blog, new posts up

Your days in NYC are fantastic. And your blog is wonderful. You write so well and make it all seem like I'm right there with you.

Thanks for sharing.

It's been great catching up on your blog. I had completely forgotten about the sweepers at the baseball. They truly were an unexpected surprise and very funny. The atmosphere at the games was lots of fun. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Yay for Madame Tussauds. We went last year and this year and had a blast both times. It was also a highlight for our kids. I agree, the pricing is quite hideous.

Loved your Brooklyn Bridge photos, I wish we had've been able to fit that into our plans.

Definitely stay on the roll! I'm really enjoying reading about your family's adventures. We've already bought tickets to the crown online and we need to pick them up at Battery Park. With the NYC pass, did you have to line up to pick up tickets or did the pass act as tickets?

How exciting to have Crown access tickets! I missed out because when I tried to book them online, it would only let me buy maximum 4 and I needed 5. I was too nervous to book 4 and then 1 in case the time for the first one sold out and I couldn't get the extra ticket! So I emailed them and the response was no problem, there's plenty of availability, just call to book. I put it off for a couple of weeks because I had to call in the middle of the night and I couldn't stay awake that long! I finally called a couple of weeks later and every day in June was booked out! And this was back in February! Oh well, we still enjoyed seeing her even if we didn't get to climb up to the crown.

The NYCityPass acts as your ticket (it's a booklet with vouchers inside, at each entry they take their voucher). There were two lines, one for prepaid and one to buy tickets. We got on the prepaid line which was shorter and they accepted our CityPass voucher.

Thank you :). When I was writing yesterday I was actually worried that it was boring. I thought I was just all we went here blah blah blah then we went there blah blah blah . I was trying to figure out how to make it more interesting!

I thought about you a lot while were in NYC because of your wonderful stories and photos from your last trip. Your DH had said we would love the baseball and he was right! And I was determined to visit Madame Tussaud's because you had said it was a highlight. Little did I know that you would be back there in a couple of months yourself, you lucky thing!

Next post is done

First Frasier, now Lilith AND Chad???

I so hate you!

And if you post a picture of Niles next, I'm so going to have to close the Curtains on you!!

I was sorry to read about your changeroom experience at Daffy's (hope your daughter didn't linger too much over the experience) and also about the bags....you're going to have to post a picture of THAT bag now.

Another great blog post!

I can't believe how rude that change room woman was! That is just disgusting! Seriously she had a big big chip on her shoulder! I would have been furious too! Sounds like you handled yourself really well in that situation :goodvibes

How scary having all of those people surrounding you with the bags. On Sunday the streets were lined with copy handbags and I was interested watching them because word would get out that police or something were coming and they had them all laid on white sheets. When they would get word that somebody was coming they would grab four cords from the each side of the white sheet and it would just scoop up the whole display and they would wander off! I didn't stop at any, but they were only there that day, other days they had bags but not the real copy stuff.

Loving your report eshumum. I really think we should plan a DISer mum holiday to the world so we can all meet up you are like family.....well cyber family xx.

Oh you did so well with the changeroom situation. Your poor DD. I think I would cried...I'm not too good with conflict type situations. Same with the bags, I think I'm too easily intimidated. My parents would be ashamed of me. They bargain like mad at markets and shops and have an extremely thick hide. They have no shame! But me, I'm a pushover...or I get scared that the shopkeeper might do something horrible to me and so I just buy the darn thing! Glad you enjoyed Mamma Mia despite the hadnbag incident. And what's this with all the star-spotting! Eagerly awaiting more...

Enjoying your trip report - what great memories your kids will have. Makes me feel a little happier that DS will be nearly 6 when we finally do DLR, he might remember it more than if we'd gone next year.

What a troll at that department store though!

Loved your MT pics, your Ground Zero ones made me a bit teary, I can't believe it's been 9 years already.

I think I would've fainted if I'd seen Niles - I love him!

Emily didn't seem bothered by the nasty woman but I know she still thinks about it because my niece asked me about the incident the other day because she said Emily had mentioned it :sad1:.

I'm pretty sure that some of the street vendors are licenced so we went to a stall where they had the certification, but they still scared me! We also saw the sheets packed up in record time and the vendors totally disappear before the NYPD came round the corner!

How cool would that be!

I'm a terrible haggler too. And I normally hate confrontation but the mama bear in me came out to protect my daughter. If it was just me I might have crumbled too!

I did a big overseas trip aged 9, and while I don't remember everything I do remember it so I'm hoping my kids will keep the memories too.

I've done another post

Another great blog post!

The zoo was small wasn't it! We had lunch at the zoo's cafe too, the food wasn't that wonderful but it was edible and fresh.

We need to go back to NY, there is so much more to see. We only did the natural history museum, didn't find time for the others. But we will do the Ground Zero tour next time after your report, it looks good.

Great blog and photos. Love the MOMA picture...what is that thing behind you?

Another great day! You make catching the subway and the buses sound so easy! Was it really packed during peak hour?

Madagascar fooled us! We were expecting a much bigger zoo! The day after we were there a baby was killed by a falling tree. It was so awful, especially as we had probably stood under the same tree the day before :sad1:.

10 days wasn't long enough for us. We didn't get to do half of what we wanted to. Good excuse to go back!! :rolleyes1

A boat made out of purple balloons? That's what convinced us we were in the wrong place - we're just not modern art fans :confused3.

It was easy! Just buy a metro card and away you go! The only time we experienced a really packed train was on the way to Yankee Stadium. We didn't have a problem any other time.

Another post:

Thanks for reading everyone :).

Another Project Runway fan here.....:thumbsup2

I see you actually found some more modern art in the park! Those twistees your kids are playing on look fun.

Mary Poppins would have been fantastic to see in NYC! Did you buy the tickets in advance or when you got there?

And I love going to 9th Avenue for food. It never fails to disappoint.

I am really enjoying your blog - especially as DH has just said yes to New York! Just have to work out the budget.

Hurray jade +3!!!! That's exciting!

Sorry I appear to hijack everyone's thread...
