This morning I was trying to find an update on Sophie and decided to go to the local newspaper and found this update.
So if anyone is interested, log on to ellwoodcityledger.com for an updated fire related story.

There is a picture of the house. I asked one of my fire investigators how something that looks so minor could cause such a horrible thing to happen. He gave me all the technical stuff, that I won't go into here, but we have enough firefighters on this thread...they will know. But the first thing he said to me was, "what does smoke and fumes do??" Right, rise. He said it could have been smouldering for a while, before anyone noticed the flames and it could have just taken them one breath..

Then scroll down to the end of the article....it's going to break your heart all over again.

Thank you for sharing that. That Mickey balloon made tears stream down my face. I hope that little Sophie makes it through okay...What an awful, awful tragedy for that family..

Very tragic indeed and seeing the Mickey balloon did bring tears to my eyes. What a sad event.

Prayers going out for Sophie. Here's hoping she recovers fully and that one day she too can take a cruise with Grandma and Grandpa just like her big sister Emma did.

I know they will cherish the memories they have of that cruise with Emma.

I will add my condolences to the long list. My heart goes out to this family. It is unbelievably sad -- many prayers are being said for this family and their unbearable loss.

My prayers are with this family. I'll never fully understand why these things happen ...

:( Oh my....

So very sad, my heart just breaks for this family and the suffering they are all going through.
This photo is too much for words....
the house, bouquet of flowers, MM balloon and swing set Daddy built for Emma's BD....

God, please give them the faith and strength to get through their loss.
Prayers that baby Sophie {{XO's}} continues to improve.

Appreciate the updates...

 Sandie :sad1:

Each of these new articles are more gut wrenching than the last. My heart goes out to this family. Continued prayers.

This story just breaks my heart. I feel so bad for the remaining family how much grief they have to deal with. I keep them in my thoughts and prayers.

:sad1: Thank you for posting the link to the article. I saw posts about Sophie but didn't know the story. I can't even begin to write my emotions on this one. I will just say that I am thinking of the family and may they have the strenghth to get through this.
Prayers, thoughts and condolences!

I don't even know how to express my sincere sympathy for this family. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

God bless,

Unfortunately I have had to deal with families that have lost loved ones due to fire and it never gets any easier.

Prayers to Sophie and David as well as the whole family.

Debbie

One small measure of comfort I found while reading that article is that the three of them were together. Amanda, like any mother, was protecting her children. I'm glad to know that those girls were in their mothers' arms.

Debbie....thanks for posting the dirct link to the story.

I didn't know how to do that.

Thanks
Phyllis

We all want to know what we can do to help.

I can think of several things we can all do in memory of Amanda and Emma and in honor of Sophie, David, EmmasGrammy and family.

1. Send a donation of some sort to the Memorial fund Ritter Family Memorial Fund

2. Check your smoke detectors. Maybe check with your local fire department to be certain they are installed in the correct places.

3. Hug your spouse, kids, parents, friends. Make a practice of letting your family and other loved ones know how much you love them. Make a phone call to tell someone OUT LOUD how special they are to you and how much you love them. Tomorrow isn't promised.

4. Last and most important, Pray for the family.

Maybe in these ways we can turn literally bring beauty from ashes and turn this tradegy into a reminder for others that will save a life or restore a relationship.

May God's peace be with the family. I am at a loss for words, but not a loss for tears. God bless each of you!
