Updated- Planning a WDW vaca with these hurricanes 3 wks before we leave

reminds me an awful lot of the stress we went through in 02.
We kept hearing about cleaning, etc until finally the planned trip was cancelled. It was the last 3wks before our trip was to happen and here I am in the same countdown timeframe.

So now do I go ahead and plan this trip for Oct 1? or not?

(I can tell from a few of you that you need to see my update on pg 2)

This year has been an anomoly for sure, from a storm standpoint. You travel to the Caribbean or FL in the heart of Hurricane season, you take your chances. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but it is what it is.

My gut feeling is that you will probably be fine, but if it is going to stress you out a lot, maybe postpone until after hurricane season.

I agree with Debster. Cruise during flu season, risk the results. Go to hurricane country during hurricane season risk the chance of getting caught in one. I suggest you go to your PCP and see if he'll give you a tranquilizer to get you through this. You have no control so don;t stress.

...Flu...Season...UGH! We just rescheduled our trip because of Ivan for November and now I'll be stressing about it being flu season! Maybe I should call my PCP too LOL. It's not a cruise though.

Boy do I wish I wasn't a worrier!

To the OP, I am thinking FL has to catch a break by then...hope you have a wonderful trip!

Hurricane season runs through November. Hurricane Gordon formed November 8, 1994 and died out November 21, 1994.

In 1998, Hurricane Nicole formed on November 24 and died out December 1 (I could name more, but who wants to be inundated with boring statistics).

If you think you will upset by a potential Hurricane, you should cancel your trip and book at a different time of the year.

I am still planning my Nov. trip, even thru all these storms. I really want to go in Nov. and will probably be able to...if Ivan stays away from my house and WDW that is!

Tuesday i cancelled my trip disney...
was thinking on rebooking for end of nov/ beginning of Dec

*after beening at disney 9/11/ and beening in the park when the war was annouced.
*hurricane 2003
I am not taking chances this yr! 3 times is a charm i know. but still...

I am even considering Cuba or Mexico. And do Disney in Jan / feb next yr. :

I am feeling the hurricane stress as well. Our trip is planned for 9/25-10/1. I was worrying and making myself sick, and have decided that I will keep good positive thoughts flowing.If another storm comes through, we'll just cross that bridge when it gets here and make rescheduling plans then.

I will send you pixie dust thoughts , if you'll send me some back .

If it really stresses you, then I would look into rescheduling. It's been an unusually busy season in Florida and what's to say that another hurricane could form after Ivan. Last year in October (I believe) hurricane Isabel struck the North Carolina coast leaving Hatteras cut off from the mainland and lots of damage in Kitty Hawk and South Nags Head. It seems like the forecasters were accurate in predicting Frances' track, close to accurate in Charley. As for Ivan, just keep watching the meterologists track the storm. It looks like it is heading for Florida, and my thoughts are with the Florida residents whom face the possibility of evacuations. The final decision is yours.
