Love the announcements! But I'm disappointed in the lack of a timetable across the board.
Star Wars Land is super exciting! I participated in the Disney College Program and worked at the original Star Tours, so I'm a fan. One concern I do have is how they are going to make it appeal to a wider audience. I know Star Wars is immensely popular; I know Star Wars Weekends are a hit. However, Star Tours the ride hardly ever has a long wait time. Granted, this could be in large part because it is a simulator, a type of ride that does not appeal to all and does have height and health limitations. And it is located in the back of the park. I just hope whatever they create can bridge the gap for those who may not be Star Wars fans. Star Tours the ride really was, and still is, a great attraction, and I wish it received more love. It'll be interesting how they do bridge this gap--making the attractions more accessible, but still keeping the intensity... because, let's face it, Star Wars is an intense saga. It's about on-going war in the galaxy, ya know.
Additionally, while it may not be realistic, I wish Disney would invest in more rides and shows whenever they are implementing these new lands. It appears there will only be 2 (or is it 3?) new attractions in SWL. Adding shops and dining experiences generates profit for them; and both shopping and dining are needed elements in any new area, but I have a hard time counting these items as new "experiences" unless they are going to offer something truly unique in those shopping and dining settings aside from a special cupcake or a waffle in the shape of Darth Vader's head. Ha!
Also, as far as Toy Story Land, I would have liked an expansion of Pixar period. I love Toy Story, but so many other Pixar films could be represented too--Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, Up, Cars, Incredibles, Wall-E, A Bug's Life, and any future films. However, I know for full immersion they had to select one and Toy Story does have the largest fanbase of any Pixar film and the staying power, especially with Toy Story 4 in the works. So I can't argue with this decision. I am actually glad they aren't bringing Cars Land to DHS. Not that it wouldn't have been great; I personally just like to have different things to experience between the Florida and California parks.
In both cases I seem to be just thinking (or dreaming) bigger when perhaps something that large and expansive it's fiscally possible.
I'm looking forward to Avatar Land. Animal Kingdom is oddly my favorite park. However, I'm in agreement with almost everyone else that it is indeed currently a half-day experience, so I'm anxiously anticipating the new offerings coming to this park of "the World."
