I'm going to buy a AAA membership if we can save enough, but I want to make sure my dates are available first. Can someone check the AAA site for me? If not I'll call. I just won't be able to until Monday, so I thought I'd ask.

2 adults, Jan 25-feb 1, POP, MYW w/ dining (and without, please!), 10-day, non expiry, park hoppers.

Thanks!

Okay - here's what you can expect:

standard view $1,207
preferred view $1,283

add the dining:

standard view $1,739
preferred view $1,815

Hope this helps!

I know this isn't what you asked ;) but I'd definitely wait and see what kind of deals Disney releases. Being value season, I think we can count on at least some room-only discounts (which should beat AAA) and maybe even some package deals. If by some chance nothing is released, you can always go with AAA, but I think (hope!) the chances of other deals for that time is pretty high.

Good luck planning :flower:

A question about booking on an AAA website -- my particular AAA chapter doesn't allow this. Can I use my membership number on any other AAA chapter's web site to check? If so, does anyone have a link of one that allows online reservations?

Thanks Betsy!!! You're a big help!
That's more than $200 less than rack rate. At least it's something!

I think I'm going to wait until the end of October to book. Rumor is that any discounts should come by mid-October. i'm just worried that if i wait, i'll miss out on AAA, and they're won't be anything from Disney.
I doubt it though, since they released for peak season. hopefully our discount would be more.

What would everyone else do? Book with AAA now (meaning I'd buy the membership, and if Disney comes out with something, I'm out $59 for no reason) or hold my breath for a disney discount?

I could book a AAA room only...we're not sure about dining yet. i'm trying to talk DH into it :)

This the national site to book Disney thru AAA: AAA Disney online booking

You are better off booking now if you know you can afford it. AAA only has a limited number of rooms reserved at each resort and once those are gone, you won't get their discounted rate. A discount code may or may not come out for your time. So it is best to book now at the AAA discount and then if a better discount comes out, change your reservation.

If you don't book now, you run the risk of losing out on the AAA discount and then if no other codes come out, you're stuck with rack rate.

besides I wouldn't say I am out $59.00 for AAA you get many discounts all over town with them.so the membership is not a waste

Exactly. And the first time you have a flat tire or other breakdown with your car, just knowing there is someone to call who can get you back on the road again is a big plus. This will be the first time I've used my AAA for a Disney discount and yet I've never felt like I was wasting the money I paid for membership. It is well worth the price.

Thanks for the responses!

My insurance company covers flats and other road-side stuff, so I don't need AAA. We don't travel very often so the travel discounts won't help.

I guess I'm afraid...ah nevermind. I think I'll book with AAA. If something comes from Disney before the 45 day fee, I'll just cancel and switch.

Lark...that is sooo weird that the link takes you to your hometown site. I have no idea about that one.

But AAA also offers discounted movie passes and tickets to other area events. Like we can get discounted tickets to shows, minor league baseball, MLS soccer games...all kinds of fun stuff.

My car insurance will cover towing too, but I have a deductible. No deductible on AAA. I think that once you have it, you'll probably find that it offers a lot more than you expected.

As for the person who is getting the local page when they log in...that's probably because your cookies on your computer are automatically set to take you to your local page from the first time you logged in. If you can clear out your cookies, you could possibly start over...but it might just ask you for your zip code and member # which would just bring you back to your local page again.

Oh I forgot about the zip code thing!! They ask that at the beginning, so that link was with my zip, and your cookies probably directed to yours. I don't think you can get to the site if your hometown won't let you.

Yeah, you're right, I have a deductable too, and it's high. I think I'll go for it. I'm doing a lot of long distance driving right now. It couldn't hurt to have it.

I was also thinking of maybe just booking a AAA room-only with CRO, but I don't want to be the jerk that holds a room from someone else, and then drops it at the last minute when something else comes out. Especially when I don't have the membership in the first place.

Believe me...chances are that even if you hold that room and then drop it later, there are people who will constantly be checking for availability. So if you do drop it, someone else will probably be waiting to grab it. (Unless you're going in value season when there are probably plenty of room options available.)

That's true :) I was trying to be nice, but I doubt it'll matter.

We'll be there right after you--Jan 25-Feb 1

I can't wait! As of tomorrow, we'll be under 100 days. For a while there, we weren't sure we were going to be able to make the trip...but things have gotten back in line and now there's almost no turning back.

We booked airfare last week after I got a great deal on Southwest!

Just a thought, if harley hold a room, Disney will think they are more booked than they really are and then won't release discounts and codes because they will think they are full already.

But if she's going to go anyway, why wait on the possibility that there would be a discount code. If she booked now, that AAA discount is definite (given the she joins AAA before her trip). If she waits, and no discount comes out, she's stuck paying the rack rate. I'd rather know that I'm saving some money now instead of waiting and hoping that I might save money later.

:) Don't worry, I'm not going to! That's what I was thinking too. I think I convinced DH to go with the dining package, so that's what I'll be booking. No worries! :)

I counted 119 days for me? Is that right? :teeth:

I really didn't mean it in a snooty way, and hope you didn't think I did, I thought you were going to book two different rooms...I apologize. Whatever you decide have a great trip!!! :)
