UPDATED!!! Gmax THRILLING September Adventure! Featuring LOTS of DISers!

petesnite001-1.jpg

All I can say about this one is OH MY!!!!

oh, my. i was soooooooo behind and just spent the last hour getting caught up. phew!!!!

by the way, glad your ex missed you. he deserved to miss you! ;)

As we were standing in line, I couldn't help but wonder how many of the people in the "regular" line would soon be losing their breakfast! HA!

we rode it after breakfast last year and neither of us lost our breakfast, but we were quite wobbly walking off the ride. we saw a pregnant woman getting off of it too!

My Mother said that just before the fast part, she went to move/adjust her arm, the car tilted, and she hurt her arm. In a few days she developed a big bruise. I was really sorry.

:sad1:

When we got to the table, we had the same waitress I had the first night I was there with Punkin and Vandy! Her name is Maureen. I LOVE her hair! She could EASILY be in a sitcom! So if you see her, tell her Hello from The DIS!

6c5e5d2d.jpg

that's so cool! she was a great server. :thumbsup2

The line was short, and it was cool looking at the decor inside. The pre-ride movie is really good too! What a great idea for the ride. When we exited into the actual line where you get to see the "limos" taking off, I said "Hmmm, I'll see if maybe I'll ride". My Mother then turned to me with a bit of attitude and said, "WELL YOU HAD BETTER DECIED WHAT YOU'RE GONNA DO CAUS-". I stopped her, and told her that I'd been through here before and I know how much time I have to decide. I then pointed to the door where we would go through. As we got closer to the boarding area, I decided to get on. Yes, I repeat, I decided to get on. I handed my bag to my Mother, and proceeded to the boarding area.

When I got to the the metal poles where you stand to wait for the next "limo", I was shaking ALL OVER. I had no idea that my knees could tremble like that. I stepped in the limo, an older man in his late 50's early 60's stepped in beside me. I asked if he'd been on it before - he had. I think I asked him if I was about to die - I wouldn't. He said that if I liked Test Track, I would like this. Okay. Wutever.

When the car pulled around the track to the sign where it takes off at the speed of light, leaving parts of your eternal soul behind, I got nervous. Without looking at the man, I semi-yelled, "HOW DO I KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO TAKE OFF"? He calmly said, "When that light turns green". I'm thinking, Well, it's too late to pray, that light could change in any second- and besides, Jesus did NOT tell you to get on, so don't ask Him to help you now-and this could be fun, you've always wanted to see what this ride is like-you should try things while you're still a bit young, besides, thi- GREEEEEEEEN!!!!

I held on, leaving bits of my essence behind. Ok. I'm Ok. This isn't horrible. Just Bad-ish, and I'm breathing. Good. Wait . . .Why is all my weight on my shoulders? Am I upside down? Hmm . . . Ok, now I'm not. The signs are pretty. Wait. It's quiet in here! Where's the music?!! All I could here was the sound of the "limo", and my head hitting the harness occasionally. Man! The ride finally starts to slow down. IT'S OVER!!!! I'm ALIVE!!!! I'm not sick, nor do I regret that I got on. After all, there were NO drops, and I didn't spin! I'm just mad that I didnt hear any music!

When I stepped out of the limo, the ground was moving a bit beneath me. So I wasnt totally ok, but at least I wasnt sick! As I walked towards the shop, there was my Mother. I wish I could've held my arms up so she could carry me to the car! I was sooooooo glad I did it! It was OVER!

this was the funniest!!! i read it out loud to DH and he thinks it was funny too. i'm so proud of you!!!! wow.....an impromptu ride on RnRC. way to go!!!!

While on the monorail from the Contemporary to MK, my Mother and I put on our headgear - Mickey Ears on springs (thanks Vandy and Punkin for the idea!), and I started esembling our GLOW jewerly!

Warning: The "costumes" above were stolen from VandyFan and Punkin.

great minds think alike. :cool2:

But FOR ME, the parade ALONE was worth the ticket price. I watched it TWICE!

it was awesome, huh? i bought a CD while there that's called "magic kingdom event music" and it has the boo-to-you parade song on it. you should try to get one! i bet you can get it on amazon.com.

Well, even though we'd been to Magic Kingdom already for the Halloween Party, it's still not like being there in the morning!

i agree!!!! :cloud9:

After we got off, I made sure to find the place that sold the cream cheese - filled pretzels! You remember, in June I wanted to steal it from MadiMouse in June (My Precious!).

did madimouse have the spicy cheese or the cream cheese pretzel? just asking because erica and i both are crazy about the spicy cheese pretzel we've gotten in the past from the lunching pad in tomorrowland (especially her!) and when we went to get one this past trip they said they don't have them anymore. we got the regular cream cheese one and it was good, but nothing compared to the spicy one!

Of course comming from Tomorrowland, the first ride we got to was The Teacups. I offered to hold my Mother's bag, so she could spin to her hearts content. Now, even just looking at that ride makes me sick!

IMG_3146.jpg

go, mom!!!!! :woohoo:

As you can see, I was SO excited about riding, but what if I wasnt tall enough to get on . . .

IMG_3212.jpg

this is great!

As we got off, I spotted one of the things that we DISers love to see - a woman in heels! I HAVE to get some MAJOR DISer POINTS for scoring TWO pics!

IMG_3218.jpg

oh, these are CLASSIC!!!! :rotfl2:

What to do? Hmmmm . . . . I KNOW! I'll ride SPLASH MOUNTAIN! Who said that, was that ME? AM I drunk? Do I have sun-poisoning? WHY AM I IN LINE?!!!

Well folks, before I knew it, I was in line with my rain poncho in hand, while my Mother waited for me. Fortunantly, when it was time to get on, I ended up on the back row. THANK GOD! I knew from talking to MANY people about this ride, that I had time to enjoy the story before plunging to my death. So I arranged my poncho to achieve maximum coverage, and set off to the Song of the South.

Soon, it was time for the drop. Why oh Why was I doing this? I think it's this crazy DISboards CULT! As the log tipped over the top, I peaked out at the park before ducking my head and trying to make myself disappear. Before I knew it, the drop was OVER! And my stomach did NOT drop! How is this possible! The drop was just fast and a bit noisey! You mean I have been afraid to ride this since 1983 and it isnt bad? Well, at least I got to find out for myself!

YAY!!!!!!!! :yay: i knew you could do it!!!! see??? we weren't lying when we said it wasn't bad at all! i'm so glad you did it. :goodvibes

As we were walking to the bus, MadiMouse called! She and her husband had gotten food poisoning in DisneyLand. But today, they were starting to feel better!

oh, that stinks! glad they were feeling better when they called you though.

Before I knew it, I was squeezing my 6 Foot Long body, down into a car made for midgets! When I was in there, my knees were so high, that I felt like I was on a Lifetime show about giving birth!

Soon we were off. I PANICKED when my safety bar MOVED! They told me that soon it would click into place. It did. When the car started through a light-tunnel, I was thinking, "OH JESUS". But then I realized I was saying it OUT LOUD! HA! Soon we were engulfed in darkness while the Internet Strangers were laughing, giggling and cheering. The car picked up speed, and we were in space! I think I screamed/giggled the whole time.

WOW!!!!!!! i'm completely shocked. that's THREE thrill rides you conquered this trip! i'm the same way on space - i just giggle the whole time. believe it or not, that was the first roller coaster i ever rode when i was 7 years old! :goodvibes

THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! :lmao: :thumbsup2

wow. i'm so proud of you, you roller-coaster-riding-thrill-hunting-diva, you!!! am i incorrect when i say i do believe that means you've ridden all the "big" rides in disney world? now we just gotta get you back on ToT! :scared1:

Subbing!

I'm just getting started but looking forward to all the adventures.

DisMeets...how awesome!

OMG!! :rotfl2: :lmao: that SM pic is too funny.

Good for you getting on rides you never rode before.

the updates and pics were great.

Day 6 - Leaving Magic Kingdom

Well Folks, riding Splash Mountain with my DISer friends Kat, Antss, and Klofan (w/Kristen), was alot of fun! I couldn't believe that in one day, I rode TWO rides in MK that always frieghtened me!

When the log on Splash neared the station, a blast of light caught our attention. It was the fireworks from Wishes! It was such a magical way to end our ride. After exiting the log, we headed to the monitors to see our pic. We stood there a LONG time and feared that it wouldnt come up. Finally, when we decided to go into the gift shop and ask them about it, it popped up! Whew! So we all went in to get a copy.

IMG_3276.jpg

IMG_3275.jpg

After leaving Splash, we made our way over to my Mother. Right before we got to her spot, there was a rope blocking us. We had to walk a LONG way around to get to her. Soon, we got a call from PennConn asking how many times we rode Splash since we were gone so long. And he let us know that they were with my Mom heading to Main Street.

Soon we met up, and showed them the pic. Surprisingly, there were quite a few people hanging around the hub. Then I realized, they were waiting for "The Kiss Goodnight" An announcement came on thanking everyone for visiting the park, and the castle changed colors! I was sooooo excited! I turn to my Mother, and she was . . . . TALKING ON HER CELL PHONE! She didnt take any of it in!

IMG_3278.jpg

IMG_3281.jpg

IMG_3282.jpg

Then it was time to say our goodbyes, and start that sad walk up Main Street. I was sad, but in the back of my mind, I knew that I HAD to see them again!

IMG_3284.jpg

IMG_3285.jpg

On our way out, I just knew my Mother would hang up the phone, but she didn't. So I just took some photos while we were walking, and letting it all soak in: it was a great day, I'd finally seen the Kiss Goodnight, and it was the final walk . . .

As we reached the hub before the train station, she'd finished her call, and I took a few more shots:

Goodbye Magic Kingdom! I hope I get to see you again someday!
IMG_3300.jpg

Stay Tuned for one more day of fun!

WOW! Splash Mountain and Space Mountain? I'm very impressed!

Thank you! I hope next time we can ride something together!

I'm so glad you went back to Magic Kingdom and met up with all your Dis buddies. I think you ended up having a much more exciting evening there than you would have on a rousing round of Maelstrom if you'd gone on to World Showcase.
Yes, I'm so glad we went back there too! And it was nice running around MK before it closed, like kids let on the loose!

OMG, Glenda. I tried not to laugh. I really did. I am so proud of you but these pics are just too funny!

I'm glad you had a great time - again!! You always entertain us so much with your TRs. Thanks again!!!
YAY! I'm glad you've enjoyed the report so far. As for the pic, I was SHOCKED when I saw it! I really look like someone is trying to kill me, while Kat in the backrow is having the time of her life!

I love the Splash Mountain picture. That is priceless.

We WILL have a trip together in 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YES!

Glenda, I'm so glad I got to see you again! But this has to be the best line ever written; "So what happened folks? I found myself following FOUR Internet Strangers to die in a space-like enviroment." And remember, Kate and I wanna see you ASAP. And as soon as you know what your next dates are for Disney, I'm going. Kate and I will be going in the summer, so you should come along too. Maybe Cas can come, and you know Antss will be there! Miss you! -Pete
Hey Pete! I can tell you now, that since the DVC points (and the crowds) are high in the summer, I doubt I go then. Right now, I'm thinking Jan, Feb, Sept, or Dec. Will let you know when I decide!

. . .And I am sticking with you woman... you know I say I dont latch... well I am now.. latching onto you !!!
HA! I'm the one holding onto you! Thanks SOOOO much from keeping me sane these past few weeks . . .

And Pete ! FInally!!! the Day Gmax saw klofan!!! Hmmmm 10 more days!!! and We'll see Glenda again
YES! I'm really looking forward to the Baltimore Meet! If either of you know the time, please PM me!

that splash mountain pic is too funny! i can't believe that you were scared of that little old ride. just you wait; i am a roller coaster junkie and you will be riding RNR several times when we meet up so get your sedatives ready.

btw.....poor mom sitting on the bench. i hope that she was content.
Yes, my Mother was VERY content. Believe me, she did not want to run behind us.

And I am looking forward to hanging out with you someday. Hopefullly next year our dates will match up!

OK I have to stop lurking and tell you how much I've enjoyed your TR. And also to say if you're like me and get those dreaded cold sores occassionally, try Abreva. It's kind of expensive for a little tube but a little tube goes a long way. I put it on when I get that first little tingle when you know you're getting one and if you use this stuff soon enough you never get the cold sore. I always have it in my purse just in case.
Also have to ask you, did you love AKL? DS and I will be going there soon. We've been for breakfast but never stayed there.
Yes, I REALLY like AKL! I love that you feel like you're far removed from the parks! The atmosphere is awesome!

As for the cold sore, I havent had one in YEARS! But when/if I get another one, I will remember to reach for the Abreva! Thanks!

So glad you braved Space Mountain! My first time on it I was 8 years old and rode with my aunt. You used to share one seat, and there was no lap bar or belt. (At least there wasn't when I rode it). My lasting memory of the ride was that I slid off the seat and rode the rest of the ride screaming from the floor of the car. Since then I've become a bit addicted to most thrill rides, but it was years before I could be convinced to ride SM again. :lmao:
OH MY GOSH!!!! What a story! It's amazing that you ride anything after that!

Great TR Glenda! and I'll echo the comments on the Splash Mt pic! Classic!! :lmao: Timmy, you always look like you're having the time of your life! Go figure :)

I can't wait to meet up with more cool DISers in December! :thumbsup2
Hey! I wish I could go in December, but I have no more vacation days left this year. Make sure you take a pic with every DISer you meet!

Glendamax, I love this picture. Your look is hysterical!!!!! I'm glad you were brave enough to ride and I'm glad you were willing to share the pictures with us. I love it!!

Cathy

Yes Cathy, I'm actually crazy enough to post my own humiliating pics! But hey, it IS funny!

Yay! I am so proud of you! I didn't know you rode SM?? You must of rode the left side...the right side has a few drops;)
I dont know what side we were on, but it did do a few little hills - like in Pirates.

. . . and Dec 6-12, got it. We'll start discussing and planning on our end :)
Yes! Hopefully 2009 will be our year! AND I hope "HP" will be finished by then!

Glenda you had me in stitches with this photo! :lmao: You are such a good sport and I soooo needed the laugh today! We're about to leave for Disney and I have few precious hours left to prepare for it. Anyway, you really made my day and I'm glad you met so many wonderful folks from the boards and conquered your fears all in one!
Heyyyy!!!!! I'm so glad I made you laugh today! I hope you have a GREAT time! Please let us know when you get back! :wave2:

Wow, you are one popular lady.:goodvibes Great TR and I too love your Splash Mountain pic. That is classic.:lmao:
Yes, my humiliation = Classic DISer Moment! HA! Thanks for responding!

petesnite001-1.jpg

All I can say about this one is OH MY!!!!
Hey KaT! So funny seeing you in the backrow! Maybe someday I'll be able to smile on the way down!

Hey Gmax, a quick little forum avatar I made for you: :lmao: :lmao:

gmax.jpg

NIE!!!! You are a TRIP!!!! Maybe I'll add that to my Siggie! (is that ok? lemme know)

Fun thread, loved the pics!
Thank you!!!

we rode it after breakfast last year and neither of us lost our breakfast, but we were quite wobbly walking off the ride. we saw a pregnant woman getting off of it too!
A PREGNANT Woman? I wonder if that's the same woman we saw with the newborn at Nemo. Maybe she went into labor when she got off, had the baby, then went over to AK to see the Nemo show!

this was the funniest!!! i read it out loud to DH and he thinks it was funny too. i'm so proud of you!!!! wow.....an impromptu ride on RnRC. way to go!!!!
Thank you! You KNOW I think I'm hot stuff now! :smooth:

great minds think alike. :cool2:

Picture196.jpg

Again, I'm so glad you mentioned what you wore to the party. It was just too hot for a FULL costume! And I see you all had on Glow Jewelry too! OH wouldnt be great to do that at home too! Would be nice to wear my JUMBO Tink earrings and glow jewerly EVERYDAY! HA!

did madimouse have the spicy cheese or the cream cheese pretzel?
No, she had the cream cheese.

WOW!!!!!!! i'm completely shocked. that's THREE thrill rides you conquered this trip! i'm the same way on space - i just giggle the whole time. believe it or not, that was the first roller coaster i ever rode when i was 7 years old! :goodvibes
I'm actually looking forward to riding it again! I'm so glad I took the chance and got on - especially since its so similar to Thunder Mountain!

wow. i'm so proud of you, you roller-coaster-riding-thrill-hunting-diva, you!!! am i incorrect when i say i do believe that means you've ridden all the "big" rides in disney world? now we just gotta get you back on ToT! :scared1:

Yes, I can NOW say, that I've been on all of the thrill rides at WDW! But I still have NO desire to do ToT again. TWICE was enough!

Subbing!

I'm just getting started but looking forward to all the adventures.

DisMeets...how awesome!
Hey! Welcome! Let me know when you've caught up!

OMG!! :rotfl2: :lmao: that SM pic is too funny.

Good for you getting on rides you never rode before.

the updates and pics were great.

thanks Scotty! Life's short, so I thought I would take a chance! Glad I did!

Yes, I would love to meet you! Have you set a date for the wedding yet?

I am finally able to get on the DIS for 2 minutes...As of right now we are aiming for AUgust 22nd 2009 (we are booked for DlxDDP on August 23rd)
....That'll be dependent on if we buy a house the beginning of the year---but I am looking at venues and day dreaming---so there is a good chance it'll happen. :)

YAY!!! Congrats!!!! Have you called the Bridezillas show yet? :lmao:

Those pictures of MK in your latest post make me miss it. I loved the decorations. Maybe if it weren't like 95 degrees I would have enjoyed the "autumn" feel of it more.

Hey Pete! I can tell you now, that since the DVC points (and the crowds) are high in the summer, I doubt I go then. Right now, I'm thinking Jan, Feb, Sept, or Dec. Will let you know when I decide!

Ok, that's fine. I'll be in school, so I'm gonna be going during the summer a lot more now. I'm getting that piece of paper for you Gmax!! But keep in mind Kate and I will be there Jan. 4-11! :rolleyes1

Day 6 - The Evening

On Thursday afternoon, I returned to our room triumphant! For I'd finally faced my fear and rode Splash Mountain! I also returned with a developing cold sore on the right corner of my mouth. CARP! So I had to by some over- priced campho phenique from AKL's gift shop. Believe me, I did try to keep my hands CLEAN and away from my face - but I guess some things are bound to happen. So needless to say, as my pride grew that day, SO DID THE COLD SORE! UGHHHH!

Like the first time, I made sure that I had my poncho on so I wouldnt get wet. But this time, I wanted to keep my eyes open wide so I could see the view, and where we were going to land in the drop. The end result: I look like the crazy Internet Stranger you hope to never meet, who just happends to be covered in PLASTIC!

And for even FURTHER embarassment, here's an even CLOSER look:

petesnite001b.jpg

And with that, I'll bid you all "Adieus".
:tiptoe:

Go to Page 15!

I can't believe I just found this report!! What another amazing hilarious trip, Glenda!

The pic above says it all! I am sitting here at work (luckily no one has come in yet) and laughing my sides off!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You are one fun lady - I hope to meet you one day (I will be in WDW in December - any plans of a trip then?) Thank you for bringing laughter and sunshine to my day

P.S. Your mom is adorable - what has been her reaction to meeting all the Dis folks? She seems to be taking everything in stride for the most part.

FINISHED

I started last night but finished this morning. I am home from work sick, too dizzy to move but not too dizzy to Dis!

This may be one of the funniest pics I have seen in awhile :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ...
As you can see, I was SO excited about riding, but what if I wasnt tall enough to get on . . .

IMG_3212.jpg

What are these people thinking?... Did you see the recent pic on MeMom's TR :sad2: Although I must admit I think the flip flops on the person nearby are just as bad. Give me a trusty pair of tennies anyday! Fashion be darned, my tootsies will be comfortable!

IMG_3219.jpg
[/CENTER]

I love that you tried so many new rides (but mission space doesn't bother you?) and the parade! I am a junky for thrill rides, parades and fireworks! I will however admit that as much as I love the presence of the characters, I was really glad my kids didn't feel a need to stop often. My younger one wanted nothing to do with them and my oldest was happy to see a few of them, but one time was enough for him. I can see how you could spend all day in the character lines, give me the rides instead any day!

By the way, I see you got the Mickey watch too. I LOVE it! Whenever I look at the time, I get a little Disney magic in my day.

I'm off to see the doctor now but will be back to check out your previous TR's later! Thanks for the smiles this morning
