Updated DVC info at Mousesavers.com

Dean, in your opinion, are those months the best times to try for World Passport exchanges too?
Diane, trading out has almost nothing to do with trading in. Trading out is a function of how far in advance you can search, how flexible you are and your perceived value for the exchange. Most areas have times that are easier and others that are harder to trade to and they are not always intuitive unless you know the area itself. The easier it is to trade to an area, the lower your value when using DVC to trade. Reason being is you could likely pick up a cheap rental or get the same exchange with a timeshare deposit with II that only cost a fraction of DVC in terms of both up front cost and yearly fees. We could discuss areas of when is harder to trade to and a better value IF you score vs what is easier to trade, vs what is so easy that one would be stupid to ever trade DVC through II.

Examples:
  • HH almost impossible mid June to mid Aug.
  • HH mildly difficult late March to mid June and mid Aug to last Oct or early Nov.
  • Caribbean extremely difficult Xmas to Easter and somewhat average to easy the rest of the time with a couple of exceptions such as the Westin and Atlantis.
  • MX much the same as Caribbean only even easier for much of the warmer time, esp May to late June and early fall.

oh yeah.............my CPA says if your got 5% you need alot of help............My retirement plan was up 38.7% last yr..................he thinks your five yr return is horrible.
Would you like to share some specifics as to how you invested or how your CPA advised you to invest? And that was 38.7% on your 401K Plan, not any other type of investiment, correct? Because if it's not then you're comparing apples and oranges. And what I mean by that is that 401K plans at work are just about always limited as to what funds you can buy into and where you can invest your money. I know there are other avenues of investment. Heck I bought a piece of real estate property about 6 years ago for $60K it's now worth over $200K, but that's not a 401K account now is it. Show me how I can get at a 38.7% return on a 401K plan and I'm all ears :).

Well it's been over a full day and still no response from bongo59. This is the same BS that I've been hearing from all these so called experts. They like to quote these outrageous numbers and percentages but if you really look at the numbers they're not as great as they seem. 38.7% return on a 401k, Right! They like to quote that over the long haul you can earn as much as 20% on your investment but let me tell you that over the last 10 years returns have not been that great. Sorry bongo59 but you need to do better than that. Give me some mutal funds to investigate and we'll go from there but so far all we have is you and your CPA / Lawyer's opinion. Show us some real details if you think you're right.

in my 401K we have the option of direct stock investing.............i have about 15 stocks in this account..........9 of 15 were winners...........the two best performers were google and corning.............any further questions???

Boys, boys...let's behave.

Our retirements plans are personal issues - as is the decision to invest in DVC.

Let's appreciate that we have good 'Disney friends' who share their ideas and views so that we can make intelligent choices.

mutual funds..............sorry that is about ten yrs ago...........look into ETF's and options and to the currency markets..............i am a stock guy............i own a few mutuals but only the best of bred............like Oakmark Select and Brandywine. You sound pretty bitter, in case you dont know there has been agreat market run the last 18 months.............just look at oil alone.

Sorry, didn't mean to take it to that level. And no I'm not bitter, I just wanted a fair assessment. Not all 401Ks are they same. There are very few 401Ks that actually allow you select indiviual stocks to purchase. Bongo59, You've provided some very good information and I thank you, but ten years ago mutal funds, ETF's, options and the currency markets? Sounds like we're talking apples and oranges again. Sorry if I came across as a bit harsh and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Glad you're doing so well.
