Do you have the Discover it card? An offer popped into my inbox a while back as I was contemplating getting a new card with better options to purchase DVC and wondered if this made good sense overall with their quarterly offers. Obviously the digital wallet for this coming quarter wouldn't work for DVC, but wondering if overall throughout the year you're happy with the cash back offers...
I recommend going into the I love credit cards thread and asking there. I just posted a similar post about opening cards for a DVC purchase and got some great ideas. If it all works out correctly, I should end up with potentially ~400,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after paying for my DVC purchase of 150 points which should be worth around $6000 when redeemed through the Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel portal.
The way it should work out for me:
Open Chase Sapphire Preferred card, 80K UR bonus w/$4000 spend, $95 AF for my wife
Open Chase Ink Business Preferred card, 100K UR bonus w/$8000 spend, $95 AF for me
Refer wife to Chase Ink Business Preferred card = 40K UR bonus
Open Chase Ink Business Preferred card, 100K UR bonus w/$8000 spend, $95 AF for wife
$28,550 purchase price, codes as Travel
-$4000 on CSP (2x on Travel) = 8000 UR points
-$8000 on CIP (3x on Travel) = 24000 UR points
-$8000 on CIP (3x on Travel) = 24000 UR points
-$8550 remainder on CIP (3x on Travel) = 25650 UR points
Total of 401,650 UR points, worth 1.5 cents per point when redeemed through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal using the CIP card (its 1.5c per point with that card, 1.25c per point with the CSP card) or $6,024.75
You can also transfer UR points from 1 card to another and between people living in the same household if you call Chase.
I haven't opened the 2nd CIP card yet though, need to wait 30 days after opening my wife's CSP and try the referral.
