Updated Disney Gift Card Deals and More

Hello. I'm new to Disboards and the idea of using DGC to save $ on Disney vacations, but I love the idea. As a family of 6 with an upcoming trip in Nov, every bit helps. I've been following along with these posts and am confused about VV and their advantages. I understand you can use them with the Cash App (which I still have to sign up for), but why are they better than just adding money to your card? And are VV in someway better than a physical Visa giftcard? Thanks in advance for any answers. It could be that I'm in over my head here and should stick with the straightforward 5% discount from Target, but I'd really like to do better. 😁

Welcome to the thread!
You can make money when buying VV and prepaid Visa/Mastercard gift cards.
  • VV go on sale for 5-10% off like we've seen at giftcards.com via GCG.
    • Stack it with a cashback website to earn more like at Capitol One Shopping Portal. You do NOT need to have a Capitol One credit card to use this shopping portal, it's open to everyone but it does work differently. Instead of cash back you'll choose a gift card. Be sure to compare cb websites at Cashback Monitor
    • I really don't look at what my credit card is earning because it's so minimal.
  • Visa/Mastercard gift cards often go on sale too, 5% off is the most I've seen from Kroger Online but they also have dollar off coupons for in-store and of course 4x fuel promotion. In terms of credit cards, you can get 5-6% cash back when available on your credit card. There are other places to buy them in-store and online, Simon Mall may discount fees up to 65% during Black Friday.
  • Some have opened up a new credit card with specific offers; Spend $3,000 in 3 months, Get $300 statement credit. Same can be said with opening up a new checking/savings account.
There are so many options to save more than 5%.
Hope this helps! :flower3:

Welcome to the game. I have a family of 6 as well and it’s hard (and expensive) to find lodging, etc! This year I rented points which was cheaper then staying on property at many other locations and helps get us some perks!

Advantage of using VV is that you can get points from your credit card purchase for the VV then roll it over as “cash like” to Cash app and thus increase your savings another 2-5% (which our cases can add up to hundreds of dollars).

Does the Capital One portal pay out on GC purchases? I have always avoided it….

I've tried to use both Virtual Visas and several different flavors of Visa and MC GCs with Cash App. While I can add the card, I've never been able to successfully use them to add funds to CashApp - I always get a "transaction failed" error. Not sure if they've implemented new controls across the board or if it's something specific to my account.
I actually got this with my actual debit card, but then it eventually worked…maybe a timing thing?

Capital One Shopping Portal pays out differently. You get to choose from a selection of Gift Card offerings. Yes, it works for me.

Often the Main Pages are overlooked though they are kept up to date.

Post #6 Cashback (CB) Portals Discounted Gift Card Websites & Apps

Capital One Shopping Portal: How it Works
  • Capital One Shopping is a free browser add-on that helps save you money by automatically comparing prices, applying promo codes, and alerting you to better deals while you shop.
  • You do not need to have a Capital One credit card to use this site, it's open to everyone with a U.S. shipping address.
  • Confirmed Pay-Out 2021 at Sam's Club / DGC :thumbsup2 @trstno1

Rakuten 15% cb at Olay

There’s a P&G Rebate available for a $5 VISA Card when you spend $20 or a $15 VISA Card when you spend $50! Head here for more information on the rebates. Note that you may need to click on the box below Available Rebates and select P&G Good Every Day Rebate to see the current rebate offer that expires 6/30/2022!

EDITING TO ADD: FoxC63 pointed out the restrictions for this, so I won't be getting the 15% back. But I still paid $50 less than last year with the two codes, so still a good deal, but not as good as I was hoping.
Not sure if this is an appropriate place to post this, but flea/tick/heartworm meds are on sale at 800petmeds.com. Rakuten is giving 15% back, and PetMeds has two codes that are stacking (25% off autoship and 35% autoship- the second one only takes off up to $20, but the first takes off the actual 25%). My dogs' 12 months of Simpirica Trio went from $280 to $193, and I will get 15% back from Rakuten.

I was ready to pull the trigger until I read Rakuten's Exclusions:
Cash Back is not available on prescription items and on the purchase or redemption of gift cards.
Special Terms: Use of coupons or promotional codes not listed on Rakuten may void Cash Back.

My pups need prescription NexGard & Interceptor Plus.
And the discount codes I would have used; BI20 & SAVE35 are not listed on Rakuten site. Actually they don't list any coupons or promotional codes.
@Sleepy425 have you received cash back from Rakuten before?

Well this is an interesting offer!

Sam’s Club Citi Offer: Get 5% Back
  • Valid online & in-store. Valid for US only.
  • Targeted Citi Offer Direct link to offer.
    • It’s not clear if they’re trying to exclude gift card purchases from this offer or not.
    • What’s also not clear is if there’s a limit for how much you can get back as a statement credit.
  • Expires 6/30/22. To learn more go to GCG

Oh man, I clearly missed that. Still paid $50 less than last year, so not too upset. But that 15% would have been nice!
ETA: Couldn't figure out how I missed that, but went back and realized when you click from their list of 15% sites it brings you straight to the site you're shopping, not to the normal page that lists the restrictions.

It's been a couple of months since I've done this, so it's possible something has changed. I register the virtual visa first, so it's linked to my name, address, and zip code. Then I add the card to my Cash App as a debit card.

I think it was last November when I had 10% Sam's Club boost for a long time - it might have been 3 or 4 weeks. About half way through, Giftcards.com offered 10% off Virtual Visa's - I think you could do $750 in a single order, and I managed to do 2 orders. All of these linked to my cash app. Most of the time I was able to stack additional 2% cash back through various shopping portals, but there was also a day (or 2) when I stacked RMN 10% back on all Sam's purchases. It was really a great deal. It also worked a couple of months ago, but it was only 10% for a couple of days, and RMN was only 2%.

Gotcha, the one I have now is a virtual Mastercard (from the lowes deal) and it doesn’t seem to work that way unfortunately.

I always find it funny that Rakuten pops up when I go to that site, since it excludes prescriptions, and the site is literally called Pet MEDS. Everything I buy there is prescription LOL

Hey guys! Need some advice please!

My son's birthday party is at AMC this Sunday. I have to buy 10 tickets so I'm definitely going to GC route. I was thinking about purchasing egift cards through Sam's club and using the cash app boost.

I think i would save the most that way. Is there a better route out there? Thanks!

I forget where I was shopping online but knew the store offered a military discount. I think it was LL Bean. Rakuten did not list it and their exclusions again said if it's not listed blah blah blah. So I reached out to them via email, by the time they got back to me the promotion was over, they were very matter of fact that they would not honor any cashback that the store did not provide a promotion or code for. So I emailed the store, sent Rakuten's attachment and received We'll look into it. Something changed.

I find it odd that Retailmenot works so differently.

Thank you for your response! Yes, Disney does not make lodging easy for larger families. I rented DVC points at AKL for half of our stay, but for the second half I had to reserve 2 rooms at CBR, so I have a lot of discounted gift cards I need to purchase. 🤪
