UPDATED DIS Digi-Scrappers Challenge #16 (07/30 to 08/06)

MakingScrapbooks: Great Mickey Page! I'm putting this one in my scraplift folder ;) I really like the simplicity of it!

strega7: Cute Story - great name :) I really like the Mickey Head on the front of the potato!

DisneyCruiser2008: Christy - every time I see one of your layouts - I think to myself - I bought or downloaded that kit and I didn't know that those elements were in there!! I love your LO! I went to the scrapmatters gallery to look at some of your other LOs - you are doing a great job with SBC+ - are you using any other programs?

Thanks DisneyBaby -- SBC+ is the only software I own ... no other programs. I'm really liking Britt's paper shapers.... that's what I used for the dots, bracket journaling box and frame around the page.... They are so easy to use in SBC+. I have started looking for other elements that make cute paper shapers in kits that I already have (interesting mats, edges, etc)... I turn them to a neurtral color in SBC+, then save them as a .png in a "shapers" file... so I am accumlating a file of shapers..... I think I like the look of them because they remind me of traditional paper scrapping (diecuts) when they are on the page.

Our family and two other families went to Disney World together in 2006. Since we couldn't agree on a common route, someone decided we should have a race to Tallahassee, which is about half way to WDW for us. We all pass through that city, so we decided to race to the Cracker Barrel right off the interstate. The first family to get to the Cracker Barrel would win, but you could get points for taking pictures of different things like VW bugs, bathroom doors, Alaska or Hawaii license plates, and strangers wearing mouse ears. The race was a lot more fun than we had planned, especially since it was so close for the last two hours with us and one of the families. The missed turn at the end really cost them and allowed us to win.

Thanks for the inspiring template that helped me document this adventure for my scrapbook!

Fun template! :) I will definitely be using it again. :) Thanks Bernie-Ann for hosting and providing this fun template.

To Everyone: Your layouts are always so much fun to peak at! I love seeing what creativity everyone has!!! :goodvibes

I wanted to let you know though Yzerbear, that there is no Liberty Square in DL... that is only in WDW. In DL it is called New Orleans Square. Just noticed it and thought that I would point it out. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Thanks. ;) I corrected it. At least I had "Square" right! :lmao:

Sleeping Bean, Bernie Ann and Disney Baby, thank you for the comments....

Sleeping bean - the race was a lot of fun, I couldn't remember the real name of the race until today....when you go on the disney cruise it was the Mickey 500. It was really cute, we had a good time.

Bernie Ann - Thank you for hosting this weeks challenge, I really enjoyed using the template. I will be hunting out and using more templates for digi scrapping in the future.

Disney Baby - it is funny how the name stuck, we still name things the "strawberry nightmare" and chuckle a little from where it came from. I also wanted to let you know I really enjoyed your layout, not having a daughter we never get to meet the princesses, and I too have wondered if she had "glass" at least clear slippers on.

Here's mine! It's not my favorite, but it is another page done, and not every page needs to be a masterpiece, right?

tgmousechick - Love the changes you made and the colours of the LO!

Thanks for taking part! :thumbsup2

DisneyBaby for giving me the idea I needed to use the fourth photo I wanted to use.

Papers and ribbons: Bookworm kit Erica Hite scrapgirls.com

Bobypins and glitter: I'm a Dreamer, Britt, scrapmatters.com

Skull: y'all please don't ask. It's one of those freebies that's been wandering around my computer. My best guess is it goes with a kit called Pink Ink over at scrapgirls, but I could be totally, totally wrong on that.

Thanks!

I'm always amazed at how everyone can start with the same template and make it their own. These layouts are absolutely fantastic! Great work, everyone!

Lauren - As a retired Children's Librarian, I'm very jealous that you got to see all the neat Harry Potter things/locations. I've been to King's Cross and Madame Tussaud's, but not since the Harry Potter craze started. Maybe another time! Great LO!!

Here's my entry. It took me forever to decide what to scrap!

The funny thing is when I was kid I always wanted to be a Librarian. It's a dream I lost hold of at some point. I just never figured out where Librarian school was I guess! Thanks for reminding me of that. If you don't mind me asking where is Librarian school, or how does one become a Librarian.

Yes, there are still Librarian Schools out there! I think there are about 60 colleges/universities in the US that have programs that are accredited with the ALA (American Library Association). That's fewer than there used to be, but it's still a pretty popular field. There are even some online now. You need to have an MLS (Master in Library Sciences) to be a Librarian. These days, however, the program of study has changed its name to Library and Information Science because of the amount of technology involved now. Even with all the info online now, the libraries around here are still very, very popular. Our town has a main library and 2 branches and they're building a 3rd. Before I retired, the children's summer reading program would routinely have about 7,000 kids registered and our outdoor storytimes would have 300-400 attend (parents and kids). It was a fun job and believe me, when you're working in the children's dept., you don't just get to sit around and read and shush people!!

Interesting side note to keep this on topic, this is where I first started scrapbooking since we had to submit a scrapbook about our summer reading program each summer for a state contest. I was the one who would do the scrapbook and I'd win every year!! So, I started scrapbooking about 20 years ago before any scrap stores existed so I was cutting out each element by hand. The library didn't even have an Ellison then. Ah, how far we've come!!

Hi Guys!

If you've posted a LO and haven't got a PM from me please let me know!

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. I didn't know my Librarian had a Masters. That's neat. Of course, I'm not sure I've ever seen my actual Librarian here in Savannah. The one I go to is so big I think he/she is probably in back doing secret library work somewhere.
