It actually says on my local airport's website that you aren't suppost to wear an underwire bra or they will ask you to remove it... freaking out my now husband called the airport and when they FINALLY got someone on the line (it was a female lady who actually does the metal checks) she said "sir, you tell your girlfriend she can wear whatever she wants!" and laughed, so I did and YES it set it off, but so did my hair bun clip... so she felt me up and I went on with the rest of my trip. But, just so you know, on my way back my bra didn't set it off... I really feel like they pick ppl to check and her wane thingy was beeping when she went over my knees on my jeans... it was nerve racking but I know they are just doing their jobs.

I know this is late but I had a nursing bra with snaps set the MD off. Wasn't a biggie though...

Nope and neither do my big silver hoop earrings. Shoes with metal stays will however and they will probably make you take your shoes off unless you can tell them for sure that they have no metal in the soles.

They always make me take off even my tennis shoes!!

Actually it depends on several things. First which airport. The larger ones (like Atlanta and Dulls) it will set them off. Some of the smaller ones(Cincy, Columbus or Toledo) it won't set them off. Some of the radars are set very sensitive. My bra has in Atlanta and so has my husband's Stents in his heart in Dulls (11 of them). The most that has ever happened is you get called off to the side and patted down, unhooking your jeans, take your shoes off, and they will feel if you do have an underwire bra on. With the bras, it also has to do with the wire thickness. Now in Albuquerque, they will make you remove your hoodie! My Sis was wearing one and they asked her to remove it. Now imagine she ONLY had on the hoodie! Hre expression was PRICELESS!!! Talk about some quick talking on her part. They did let her leave it on, but she had to raise it and they felt all around it to make sure she wasn't wired or something.

For the most part, it depends on the airports. Here is a kicker for you tho, Did you know that you can tell BEFORE entering security that you will be called off to the side to be hand searched? With Delta, if you have little stars punched in the bottom of your ticket on the right-hand side, it means you were randomly picked as one of the ppl who have to go through a thorough search.
