Some friends of ours just had their first child, a girl, on Friday morning. Caitlyn was taken to another hospital from the one she was in a few hours after her birth because she was having seziures and not acting "normally". Apparently, she was turning blue-ish purple, smacking her lips a lot, flailing her arms around, and a lot of cooing instead of crying. She had also apparently swallowed meconium right before she was born.
A CT scan was done, and it appears that her brain has some areas where it is "smooth"...the doctors told her parents that this was not normal, and they are not sure what it is.
She has to stay in the NICU for at least 7-10 days. The doctors still do not know what is wrong. Our friends, while appearing very strong, are understandably upset. Nothing showed wrong during the pregnancy, other than the mother was getting extremely swollen at the end, and she had very high blood pressure.
Please, any good thoughts or prayers for Caitlyn would be very much appreciated. She is such a gorgeous little thing...the chubbiest cheeks you've even seen.
Thank you.
ETA....the hospital she was born in does not have a NICU...this is why she was transported to another hospital. The one she is in now only allows the parents very limited time with her. They didn't see her at all on Saturday, and only an hour today.

I will definitely keep the parents and the new baby in my prayers! I hope all goes well!
will go a long way to keep her healthy. I said a prayer for her and her brave parents. Good luck.
Having your baby seperated from you would be an absolute nightmare
I will absolutly keep them and little Caitlyn in my thoughts and prayers and hopefully you'll post and update that little Caitlyn is starting to get better.
