My Maytag is 7 years old and won't agitate. It spins fine. I think we're going to take off some panels this weekend and see if it's the transmission or something else. I know it's not the agitator dawgs b/c the agitator piece will only spin one way a little at a time when I move it. It may be too costly to repair.
I really don't won't to buy a new washing machine. I'd rather spend it at WDW. I keep thinking that the new washer costs as much as 3 airline tickets to Orlando!
UPDATE- had a repairman here today b/c I looked at my Maytag book and it said I still had a warranty on the transmission parts. Another repairman had told me it was probably the transmission so I thought I'd take a chance. Turns out it is the timer. The total cost to fix it is $227, so I hope I can use it for a few more years!
