I was tracking an item I purchased from Amazon and UPS website said it was left at my front door a week ago. I knew it had not been, so when I called UPS I found out it was left at a former address. I used Amazon 1 click and never updated my address, so I guess I will have to buy the item again, since UPS said they were not called to pick up the item.

Today I won an item on Ebay and it occurred to me several hours after payment that I should double check my address there. Sure enough it was headed to my former address as well.

Please contact amazon about it. They might very well be able to help you.

UPS not being called doesn't mean a thing. The current people at your old address could VERY well have called amazon, gotten a return label, and sent it back (without calling UPS) already.

Please oh please contact them. (ever since they created 1click (and I was there when they did it) they've had this sort of problem...)

ebay, however...from MY experience, you're out of luck. What happened with ME was.... I clicked to buy it through ebay, THEN remembered the address change, went through their links on the pages I was on (I didn't click around), changed my address for the order, changed my address with paypal, and THEN paid.

The seller got multiple emails from all this (winning bidder, paypal, etc), and the FIRST email had my old address, but the other emails had my current address. And once I'd changed it all, everything BUT that first email sent out had my NEW address. She'd just shipped it too fast.

ebay and paypal told me to file a dispute against the seller. I did not (as I didn't think it was all her fault). We worked things out, and then she received the package in the mail from the people at my old address, so it all worked out.

So since their option was only to get money back from the seller...I doubt you'll have much recourse. Sorry.

I had that same problem bumbershoot. I made a listing while I was in Texas on ebay, so I changed the address to reflect where it was shipping from, but I had paypal in California. When I made a purchase on ebay a few days later, I noticed that the mail to address showed California. So I changed the ship to address, before confirming payment.

The seller still managed to get a hold of my old Florida address. He then dragged his feet on shipping. My original change of address with the Post Office was May 30, 2010 and is good for one year. The tracking showed "delivered on May 31, 2011".

I called ebay and they confirmed with me my shipping address was Texas. Then I sent a message to the seller, and basically said it wasn't his fault. I then had to wait for it to reach the estimated delivery date according to ebay to file a claim, which was nearly 2 weeks after the actual delivery date.

I contacted the Florida post office, and the guy was able to speak to the mail man and told me that even though he accidentally scanned it as delivered, he actually went through the steps to return to sender.

I filed my claim with ebay, and they denied it. I'm guessing no one actually read the dispute because I got a very basic message back saying that the package was marked as delivered. Just before I called ebay, I got a message back from the seller saying he got the package back in the mail. He also told me that he would dispute the resolution if I won the claim.
After a quick call to ebay for them to actually read my dispute that he mailed it to the wrong address, ebay overturned the claim and gave me my money back.

If anything he should have gotten my California address which was "confirmed home". If he didn't wait 5 days to ship it (paid monday, shipped friday), it would've been picked up by the post office and forwarded to Texas. But I was annoyed with him from the very beginning, and glad I got a full refund rather the the item.

I didn't think about changing with paypal. I had to update that and remove a former address.

This is one of the reasons that I refuse to use "1 click". I want to be taken through the complete check out process so I can make sure everything is correct. That and the fact that "1 click" makes purchasing way too easy! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the reminder. I just moved last weekend and I had forgotten that I needed to change addresses on Ebay, paypal, and Amazon. My PO is being a PITA about changing my address (processed the online change of address a month ago and the mail is still going to my apartment...sent a manual change of address form last week so we'll see if they process this one!)

On Amazon my 2 year old 1-clicked me a 300.00 underwater camera??? I have no idea how he managed that one. I called the seller and they very nicely canceled the order. Ebay has no customer service. I purchased shoes and then before shipping notified the seller. Well when I went through tracking # I found they were being shipped to the old address anyway. Notified the person at the address my package was coming. When it stated shipped the new owner of the house told me she never got anything. Ebay and paypal would not refund the order. I don't use Ebay if I can avoid it.
