UPDATE: Who has six visits to a house for sale they don't want to pay for??

Sounds like they are the kind of people that want everything they want, for nothing. They are probably just trying to get you to come down on the price and "it is priced to high" is there only thing they can say. What a PITA to deal with these people!

Good luck with this new person coming though.

Kristine

Well, that's exactly where the cultural differences come in. The husband is in charge, the wife wants the house and is willing to pay. The husband on the other hand has only been here less than 3 years and is used to getting something for nothing.

Their initial lowball offer wanted us to include everything from our patio furniture, the 5K tractor, the hockey table, the soccer nets & the list WENT ON & ON & ON.... it was ridiculous.... most everything that was in that house has been taken out, so at least that stuff is out of play....

Thanks Kristine, I too hope the new prospect come through

Thanks Lilyv :goodvibes

I hate to ask this, but are you a woman or a man? If you're a woman and you're the one doing the majority or all of the negotiating, perhaps that might be another factor here. If it's a cultural thing, the husband may be acting the way he is, i.e. trying to get what he wants, because you're a woman and he expects you to back down and acquiesce.

These people act like they are buying a car for crying out loud. Sorry, buying a house does not work the way they seem to think it does.:sad2:

I cannot believe they wanted ALL that stuff with your house! I have had to leave a tv and stero system but nothing else.

Wow - these people are starting to tork me off and I don't even know them!:rotfl:

Kristine

Daxx, this is EXACTLY what they are hoping, that we will cave to their super ridiculous price! In fact we had agreed to a price verbally in September, but they backed out saying it was too high! Well, our price now is 7 grand higher than the price they said was too high and we are NOT negotiating anything, NOTHING. The price is firm and I won't take a penny off.
Good for you ... do NOT cave to them and don't negotiate w/them!!!! And, serves them right that the price jumped after they backing out esp. since they thought the first price was too high and now it's jumped 7K higher.

Oh how did you guess :scared: this was EXACTLY the problem in September. My realtor is a woman as is their realtor (and I'm a woman). The price we agreed to was fine up until he brought one of his friends & his friend (who I assume may have been here longer, or maybe not) told him, it was just "too much"

Well, if this is the house you want, this is what it costs & why are you now visiting my house six times for close to 8 hours??

Should I just tell my realtor that under no circumstance should she let them back in? Can I legally do that? My realtor says I should not do this, but it's EXACTLY what I want to do...

Frankly, I would tell them to put up or shut up. We are in process of selling our house now.:scared: :yay:

Anyhoo....we had a first offer that was contingent on selling their house. Well their house wasn't even on the market & they wanted an entire month to be able to walk away. Yea right.:lmao:

So we shot them back 2 weeks to remove the contigency. Their retort was to say bye-bye.

We sold our house in the next week.

As of today we are putting a "back-up offer" on a house that is "sold".
They are saying it is sold but they are still allowing the house to be showed.

So anyway we want this house and it can't hurt to try to go for it.;)
We probably won't get it, but that is the way it goes....

Frankly all this "buyers market" stuff has not applied to us.:confused3 This selling in Texas and buying in Missouri.

That wasn't even the whole list, that was just what I could remember, there was at least 20 grand of stuff they wanted!

Daxx, thanks, one thing I might do is have my realtor leave the private assessment out, so when they complain it's too high, the documentation is right there....

OK, I just let the realtor know to fax over the private assessment that was completed by a man.... perhaps that will help their realtor deal with them.... Oh, I SO thought I was done with them....

These people would not be back in my house again ~ and I say this as a former realtor. "Showings" are to see the home. They have seen it...FOR HOURS, in fact. There would be no more showings until/unless there was an accepted offer in play. They need to quit yanking your chain. Either move on the house or move on.

Good luck! ;)

I think that you should tell your realtor that you don't want to hear word from them unless they are ready to make an offer on the house. They've seen it enough times to know what it's like and know what they'll get. I honestly don't know why they have to keep going back ... 8 times is enough for them to see the house esp. if they're not going to make any offers on it. I'd tell your RE agent that unless they're willing to put in a bid, their tours are done. Who needs to see a house 8 or more times!? Two, sure. Three, maybe ... but 8 or more!? Please. They're just looking to be a pain in the butt so you will say "I'm done w/seeing you just take the house at whatever price you want!" I think they're doing it to annoy you, hoping that by their annoyance, you'll just give up and come down on the price so you can just to get them off your back. They're trying to wear you down. Don't let it happen!!!!!

And, I cannot believe they wanted a list of your stuff, too! That is just wierd!!! I could see if they loved one item and offered to buy it off of you ... but a whole list!?!? Crazy!!!!!

Thanks Daxx & TerriP, I guess we'll see if sending the private assessment to more than prove our price is fair, if they still do not act, I'll tell the realtor to not show them the home until we have a signed agreement. I agree, this # of times is WAY more than excessive & for something close to 8 hours?? Are you kidding me?

I think I know these people....

seriously, a friend of mine and her DH have been "looking" for a house since 2003. No joke. She want to pay what they owe on the mortgage. Honestly -- this is true and I know it is ... she has asked me to go to the courthouse and look up the mortgage deed for her -- she then runs it through an amortization schedule and that is what she wants to offer.

I love her to death but on this point she makes me boil. I've tried to explain to her that what she wants to offer is not a fair price to offer. However, her house is paid off -- I asked her - would you accept $0.00 for your house. Of course, she says no. She doesn't get it. :headache:

HOPEFULLY- - someone else will come along and make an offer.

I hope you get your new house :goodvibes

Thanks and I have to agree with you. :thumbsup2

You are nice because we would have put them on the "do not show list". There is a limit to the amount of BS I can take.

We sold my mother's house after she died a few years ago to a man and wife, the wife's sister, the sister's best friend and the best friend's sister. Weird...

Anyway - my youngest brother was still living there. The asked for HIS DOG in their offer.... He obviously said no and then they asked to take $1,000 of the price of the house because they thought he came with it....No again.

THEN - 30 days before they were closing on the house they asked to be let in so they could measure some rooms to change out the flooring and complained that the house wasn't empty. :lmao:

THEN - during the walkthrough 1 day before the closing my brother had the last few pieces of his furniture in the garage which he was going to unload that afternoon when he came with a truck. He got there and his stuff was gone! He found it in the basement... they had taken all his furniture out and put it in the basement - they were then mad after the closing when "their stuff" was taken :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Like I said before - people are morons....

For the love of all that is holy, what is WRONG with people? Who would think someone's freakin dog comes with the house?????:sad2:

DING DING DING ~ we have a winner!!!!!

That is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard said by a home buyer! :scared:

All I can say is, OH MY GOD..... this is exactly the kind of antics I fear these people would bring, which was one reason we were glad the initial deal fell through & then we had some family issues with my in laws health at the house before they were to move... so it was good they did not have to move.

But this is EXACTLY what I fear, I know there's various furniture in the house and garage, you know they'll be making another list :rolleyes1

The dog is WAY beyond weird...

I'd be tempted to say, give me the list, and I'll work on some prices...It might look something like this:
1. Garage-3 rakes, hoe, and shovel...$175.00
2. Garage-bike, whiffle ball and bat....$250.00
3. Planter on porch...$50.00 (flowers-free)
4. Garage-1/4 bag of fertilizer...$40.00
5. 4 chairs that fit the breakfast bar...$100.00 each, or 4 for $400.00
I know it would be bad, but I'd have a blast....:rotfl:

You guys are FREAKING me out. We are going to be putting our house on the market this summer.:scared:

Kristine

I totally started laughing when I read this, just BE PREPARED for the worst  and remember, what was said is true, some people are just moron's.... Our house has three sitting area's yet there have been people that say "there's no living room", OK, you're right, there's no living room, THERE'S THREE OF THEM, take your pick!!! Plus a 900 square foot playroom.... but sorry, officially there's not ONE living room :rolleyes1 I mean seriously, are people stupid?
