Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

Our family stayed in building 5 on July 4th and it was a renovated room. It had the Murphy bed . It was our first time staying at Pop Century... we loved it.
Yeah, POP has that affect on people. LOL We have stayed there 5 out of our last 6 trips, we really like the resort, the food and we love the skyliner, it's a game changer for us.

There is a good chance it will be finished. At the current pace, buildings are taking 4-6 weeks to complete and we had first reports of a wing building 4 being shut down as of July 4th. Hoping it is finished between mid-late Aug.

Also, contrary to some information, there have been many reports of refurbishments starting just one wing of a building prior to the entire building being closed for renovations. This has been reported for 3/4 buildings so far so we know they sometimes start with just one wing at first.

Here is one of a few such reports:
Yes this is true I was there 6/10-12 and stayed ground floor in Bldg 3 and work was going in building all around me. It was a bit of a pain going roundabout way back and forth to room as most corridors were blocked off.

Thank you!

I will say I was thinking of requesting the 70’s section if building 4 and/or 5 are being worked on during our visit but, guessing the construction might cut off some if the paths we use to move between buildings.

The path along the lake is far enough from the buildings that it doesn’t seem to be affected by the construction but I know they do block some but not all corridors in the buildings they are working on.

I used to only stay at POFQ but needed to save a bit of money last year and we were doing mostly Epcot and Hollywood Studios so PoP fit the bill. Now I don't even price POFQ and will only do PoP. Epcot is my favorite part by far so it only makes sense. I do miss the boat to Disney Springs though.

We will still do a Mod, especially one of the PO resorts, but we have found our niche with POP. Barely even think about any of the deluxes anymore. Just not worth it for us, the only thing that is tempting is the extra evening hours, and then that's only for 2 nights during a week.

Generally is it running around 2 months to complete a building?
Seems to be approx 6 weeks from start to end as they normally start with a single wing then eventually close all rooms and work on the elevators too.

More than one building is often being worked on at the same time but so far there has never been 2 complete buildings closed at the same time.

The details and dates of the refurbishment are being closely tracked in the thread referenced in the post above.
