"UPDATE"Trees have been sent ! 3rd annual,DVC Christmas Tree, Sharing alittle Magic !

I dont think any of the dvc resorts have opinion about the tree swap. Basiclly they will have a few tree boxes to be put into storage, we did have a few missing trees for a day or two. this year we are going to drop and pick up the boxes at the front desk as long as the boxes(trees ) are not tooo big.

We were at the BCV last year and I donated the tree so I knew it had been sent. It did take us to day 2 to get our tree. My DH went down when we checked in and both the Bell desk and front desk said they couldn't find it. We both went down the next night and a very nice CM at the Bell Desk asked if we would give her an hour or so and she would get back with us one way or the other. By the time we finished dinner, and returned to our room the tree had been delivered. We were the 3rd or 4th family to receive the tree and the others had gotten it as they all signed their ornaments. I received it back after the first of the year and all families had received it that were supposed to.

I just pulled down my tree from the attic and i will take a look at the tree and spruce it up this weekend, hopefully. Last wedding to attend this weekend and then i will be able to start confirming the tree list and spending alittle more time on the disboard. yay!

Yikes wdwstar! You haven't received permission to do this by the various resorts? I want to make sure that the BC has approved of this ! It is not just a couple of trees. It involves many different people swaping the trees at the front desk and they are storing these between people as well. That is why I asked about this awhile ago. I think this is a great idea and thank you for this but I think this must be with the permission of the various resorts. I saw on another DIS board that other people are planning on doing this too ( not just DVC). I am very concerned about this. Please let me or anyone else who is concerned know what the status is. Thanks so much.

Boardwalk Tigger if you dont feel comfortable about the tree exchange then i dont mind removing you from the list. This is our 3rd tree sharing and 98% of the families received the trees and 100% of the trees returned home to the original owners. Each and every year there are boxes shipped down to all the wdw resorts and shipped backed home to the owners without any problems.

Boardwalk Tigger - While I'm not speaking for wdwstar (who does a fantastic job organizing this - thanks for that), but from personal experience last year, the bell staff at BC where more than happy to both fetch the tree from storage for us, and then take it back at the end and put it in storage for the next familiy. They actually thought it was a terrific idea.

I agree with Diszip i cant express it anymore " How the Dvc Resorts are very helpful with the magic of passing on a christmas tree from family to families .

I am also going to contact our vacation magic magazine and write a story about How DVC Families share the magic by sharing a christmas tree between families

The Christmas tree shouldn't be thought of any different than any other package a guest might ship and the bell desk handles those all the time. Although we did have some problems, the person I talked to at the end that found our tree was very helpful and there were no complaints from anyone that we were doing the exchange.

I did the tree exchange last year..... Here's a picture of it at BCV:

Each family painted their name on a red glove, and added it to the tree. So cute!

I think the staff would be happy to share the joy, with a tip upon storage and retrieval.

I did tip them on each way (just a little bit), and it is XMAS, reward the little extra effort of having them store, find, and retrieve the little box. Also, if you tell them that the next person will be looking for this in x days, and there name is, with a label on the outside, that too helps.

Really, the resorts I think thought it was cool..... and thank you wdwstar and ceejay13 for your efforts.

Thanks for posting the picture goldilocks_63. I was thrilled to donate the tree and will do so again this year. It is such a neat idea wdwstar put together. She had the difficult job of organizing everything. I just had to get the tree and ship it.

Thank you to all... but i really have to thank you for all the families that help make this really a magical trip Home ! If it wasnt for all the great DVC Families i wouldnt have thought this could have worked ! Thank YOU DVC Families.
