** I just got this email;
The auction was put up in error. As of now, we only have a hotel unit that sleeps up to 2 at the Silver Lake Resort - Silver Points. Please advise by 9pm EST today of how you would like to proceed.
WHAT THE HECK!!! Did this ever happen to anyone else??

OK I just won 7 Nights in a 1 BR Suite at the Silver Lake Resort - Silver Points for $271 including taxes/fees/paper. We are going June 17-24. How did I do, Did I bid too much? I guess it comes out to less than $40 a night!

Now for those of you who have stayed there tell me EVERYTHING I need to know PLEASE!

1) Do I need to bring anything extra for the condo (blankets & sheets for sofa bed, pots, dishwashing soap...?)
2) If we want maid service can we purchase it?
3) Directions to parks

Oh I do hope my hubby is happy, we saved about $600 instead of staying onsite. Please encourage me, I hope I did the right thing!

I don't know the answers to your questions, but I just wanted to say, congrats!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

OH, yes, you did a very good thing, and I don't know anything about the resort! All I know is you saved about $100 per night for a place with more space, more privacy, etc. I am jealous! We will only need accomodations for Sat-WEd, and the sky auctions are usually for 7 nights...so I'm out of luck this time! I don't know about this specific site, but you shouldn't need to bring bedding, pots and pans, etc. I usually check out the condo and then head for Publix (unless you are driving and can bring the stuff from home). We usually bring coffee filters, buy some toilet paper and dish soap, a couple of rolls of paper towels, plus food of course. Don't forget bottled water for drinks, coffee, etc...the water in Florida is nasty, and anything you make with it tastes nasty too! Most condos have adequate paper goods and kitchen soaps, also hotel sized bar soap in the bathroom, to get you started for a couple of days, which is why we always check first. Maybe some trash bags, too. We never buy maid service- the condo usually has a broom and vacuum, and for what they charge per cleaning, we'd rather do it ourselves. I think you made a wonderful decision...think of all the extra $$$$ you now have for dinners and souveniers!

you might want to see if they have any other "1 bedrooms" in inventory.....if they are saying the UNIT you won is a hotel studio...but calling directly might be better....

but they are closed on the weekend ( you might have to wait until monday )

I am so angry and sad :guilty: :confused3 :sad2: I was sooo excited about winning this... Oh well I guess it wasn't meant to be :flower:

I would check skyauction's rules b/c they may have breached their contract with you.

Oh, Emme, I'm so sorry this happened. But take a deep breath, all is not lost.

Ok. SA is closed on Sundays so I don't think you will get much done until they open again on Monday. So just try to keep cool, I know that is easier said than done. ;)

When you talk to them on Monday, ask them if anything else is available. You know, Vistana, Cypress Pointe, whatever. Then try to work from there.

Again, I'm so sorry. And you did awesome on your auction.........drats!!! I was so excited for you. But remember, things might still work out for you. Who knows, you might get something nicer. Here's some :wizard: :wizard: for you. :)

Sorry, just read your post again and saw the part about talking to them by 9pm.

Ask them where else they have availability. There has to be SOMETHING that is a 1 bedroom. How about CPGV??? Or Vistana?? Something?? I just can't believe they don't have anything. :confused3

Thanks for all the encouragement! I am so GLAD I did not cancel my POR ressies. I am almost afraid to ask for anything else from skyauction. Well, I wrote them so we will see what happens on Monday. I am just so miffed, whoever heard of posting a wrong auction and then being able to get away with it! :confused3

I had this happen to me once. I called Skyauction and told them I needed the kitchen, washer /dryer, etc. that I expected when I bid and the smaller unit would not work. I was really nice but stood by my request.

They did offer me other condos where two bedroom units were available. The choices at the time (President's Week) were terrible. I asked if they could call the resort and request the proper size unit and they must have. When I checked in, I got the unit I originally bid on (a two bedroom).

Silver Lake - Silver Points only has two buildings. See if they can put you in a one bedroom with a full kitchen in the old section. There are a lot more of them and these units will be fine.

Be nice but fight hard. The hotel unit is small with no kitchen, washer dryer, jacuzzi tub, large screen TV, etc.

I have found the employees that work for Skyauction to be very reasonable to deal with, but there is a limit to what they can do when their computer shows no availability. Since availability changes all the time (many times a day), try to find someone who will keep checking options for you. You have plenty of time before 6/17.

You can also choose to not proceed with that auction and they will not charge you. This way, you can keep checking availability for your dates and bid again.

By the way, not only did I get the two bedroom unit, but they gave me a $50 skycash credit to apply to a future auction for all the trouble. My last stay at Silver Lake cost me just $131 after applying the skycash and a coupon they emailed to me.

I e-mailed them and they withdrew me from the auction! What a mess! They couldn't find me anything so they told me I wouldn't be charged and look for something else!! Oh well you live and learn, maybe something else will come up, that would be great. I almost hate paying the $124 for POR now that I saw what I almost had :guilty:

emme...

keep checking the ready set go auctions....they are the best value....and people here can tell you which resorts are GOOD

How do I access the "Ready Set Go" auctions? I can't seem to find them on the skyauction site :confused3

go to the website and type in "ready" in the search function. The ready set go auctions should come up.

I just looked. The only thing available in the RSG auctions for her time frame is the hotel unit at Silver Lakes/SP.

Kepp checking. They sometimes have last minute auctions come up, like say on 6/2 for a 6/7 arrival, etc. Maybe you will luck into one before the cutoff for cancelling your POR ressie (5 days???).

EDIT: there is an aution that ends in about 4.5 hrs for a 1 BR at SL for a 6/18 arrival. If you could find a room for one night, this would work for you. I think the current bid is $1, which means no one has bid yet.

If you can find a room for the 17th, there is an auction for a 1 br at Silver Lakes that starts 6/18 that ends in about 4.5 hrs. It's in the old section, though. Which is a fine section (i have stayed there), but it's just not as fancy.

Thank you so much for checking for me Lisa!! :flower: I am actually arriving the 16th so I would have to get a room for 2 nights :guilty: . So, I am keeping my eye on a 2bedroom at Polynesian Isles for 6/17, I would only need a room for the one night then. Send me some pixie dust it ends tomorrow! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

If you are talking about the one that ends 5/25/2005 1:00 , that is for a hotel unit. It sleeps two people. That is the problem, that is what they tried to give me instead of the 1 bedroom I originally bid on...they said the suite was posted in "error" this is part of the email;

Oh well...The Polynesian Isles look nice too :flower:

Yea, drat! That's the one. I didn't see that it was only a hotel room.

I'm still rooting for you!! :cheer2:
