Hi Lurker,
Thank you also for the information. You make a good point - one can always ask.
Although we are going to do all we can to make sure DD can go with us, it's nice to know we might have an acceptable out. :thumbsup2

Sherry, not going to get into the selling the ticket thing, but as far as giving away, I would like to point out this quote from Disney's official ticket buying FAQ:

"Can I order and pay for the Disney's eTickets on my credit card and give them to another guest as a gift?
Yes. However, your tickets become active as soon as you purchase them. The Disneyland Resort is not responsible for lost or stolen tickets so please treat them like you would treat any other ticket."

The key to the non-transferability of Disney tickets is whether they have been used or not. You can certainly buy a ticket and give it away to whoever you want as a gift so long as it has not been used for entry prior to being given away.

To the poster who wanted to know about what to do with a leftover ticket, occasionally Disney will sprinkle a little pixie dust and help out with a situation like this. If you get to the point of knowing that your daughter will not be able to go, contact Disney immediately and see if they would be willing to issue a refund. The tickets are officially non-returnable, and most people have found that Disney holds the line on this. There are occasional exceptions though, so if you haven't come up with any other solution, it never hurts to ask.

longtimedisneylurker -

I should have clarified what I meant. I was trying to shorten the sentence and also not leave room for 'creative' interpretation by anyone who may be lurking out there.

I know first-hand people can receive tickets as gifts - I have spoken openly on this very board about a former client of mine who used to give me multiple (unused) Disneyland one-day/one-park tickets as a thank you and a bonus for the work I did for her. She would buy the tickets to keep on hand, and she'd give them to various charities for sick kids as well. Heck, I've bought tickets for friends and given tickets away - those are "gifts"!

I guess when I said "non-transferable" and "forbidden" I was throwing those words in there because, in my mind, the alternative - saying that one can give tickets away - might plant a seed in some lurkers' minds that it's okay to give any tickets/Hoppers away - including the ones which had been used. I didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea and try to do that, so I just shortened the thought by saying "non-transferable." Unfortunately, on a board such as this, people will take a fraction of a statement and run with it, and sometimes get the wrong idea in the process.

Anyway, that was what I should have said in the beginning - that tickets can be given away as long as they are unused!

So...thank you for correcting me, if that was your intention!:goodvibes

Thank you Sherry for the info. I did suspect this. One of those things you want to ask to make sure though.
Honestly, I'm not one to push any rules. Just going to do all I can to make sure DD is able to enjoy the trip! Then I'll simply feel great for getting the ticket early!!

Oh, no worries at all! I know you were not trying to break/push any rules and just wanted to be sure. Some people legitimately don't know what the rules are, and they have to ask the questions to find out!

I hope your DD is able to go and that you won't have to worry about unloading the ticket on anyone!
