UPDATE Page 3; Losing feeling in ones hands?

Not to scare.......but my friend has your symptoms & she suffers from diabetes induced neuropathy.

Again, as others have posted, go see your doctor!

This happened to me about 4 years ago while we were on vacation in Cancun. I think it had to do with getting acclimated to the warm weather and then going into the cool hotel room (I get cold easily). At any rate it was very weird and I was freaking out, but it never happened again.

I had the same symptoms when I had a herniated disc in my neck . The funny thing is, my neck never hurt.

Gosh, from all the other ailments on this thread, I hope it's Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, which is what I thought when I read your post. I had severe numbness/pain in my hands and fingers, and some nights it would feel like my entire arm was going to fall off-or I wished it would. I had symptoms for a few years (lots of data entry work in my lifetime), but not nearly as severe as after I got pregnant. I guess water retention aggravates it. I wore wrist braces for about 3 years, which helped while I was wearing them. Then after DS4 was weaned, I opted for the surgery. It was a total breeze for each hand (they do one, then the other 3 weeks later), and immediate relief after the surgery.

Please get to the doctor soon..I hope you are OK, EsmeraldaX. :wave2:

That's what I am thinking. Have you been in a car accident or had some other injury to your neck in the past? It sounds exactly like my SIL's injury as well as a nurse friend.

I had the exact same symptoms with both of my herniated discs in my neck. As with the above poster, my back/neck did not hurt. The first time the left side was affected and this time it was the right. Numbness, tingling and pain in my arm and hand. My arm and hand were a different temperature than the other one. As soon as I had the surgery to repair the discs, the symptoms went away. Go see the Dr., please and keep us all updated.

You will be in my prayers.....

Linda

I just thought of another possibility. When I get a migraine, I often get neurological symptoms before it starts. Sometimes numb and tingling hands and arms. I think it's a pretty common thing with migraine aura.

In any event, get yourself checked out. No matter what it is, I'm sure you'll be OK. It's scary I know. But hey, look at all of us who posted and experience those same symptoms. We're all still here DISing away.:D You will be too.

I started having similar symptoms when my thyroid bit the dust. Please let us know what the doc says!

Wow, I was surprised to see this post today as my 16 yr. old dd just started complaining about similar symptoms.

I'll have to call and try for a Dr. appt. tomorrow - why is it that kids tell you about things like this 10 minutes after the Dr. office closes for the day?

She says her arm really itches too. My first thought (comes from living in a desert with lots of critters) was some kind of bug bite - but she says it's been going on for several days - so better get it checked out.

Esmerelda, Hope you find out just what's wrong and that it's something easily treatable.

Call the doctor. I have MS and this happens to me frequently. Not saying you have MS, it's just another thought. Feel better.

MS was my first thought.
We can all guess and guess about what it could be but you should be examined by a doctor and let him diagnose you .

I had the same symptoms, but mostly while I was sleeping.

Turns out I have Thoracic outlet syndrome, diagnosed by my chiropractor. Like carpal tunnel, it can happen with repetitive motions. After I saw him, I realized that I hold the phone with my head and left shoulder and multi-task!

Good Luck, let us know.

Another possibility is a heart attack, but that's kind of a worst case scenario

My best friends dad had a few heart attacks happen that way. He ignored it then one day while working he had a heart attack that actually felt like a heart attack. The hospital did some testing and told him he had had previous heart attacks. He told them all he remembered previously was a numb feeling in his arms and hands that went away.

I finally got to the doctors. (I was supposed to go shortly after posting this but could not).

My doctor thinks that I have carpal tunnels. :( I am going for some tests next week to find out for sure. She said it could be a few other things, but I don't want to think about that yet, until I find out if it's CT. I have a co-worker who had CT and I am remembering the surgery she had to have and hoping that I don't have to go through that too. My doctor thinks if I do have that, it might not come to surgery.

Thank you all for caring and for all the advice.

I'll keep you updated.

~Sheri

Glad you got checked out. We'll keep our fingers crossed that it turns out to be a mild case.:D

OH good. Glad you could get in quickly. Now don't worry until you have the tests.
