UPDATE p. 37. I finally canceled. Too much uncertainty for us.

I don't understand all the criticisms of folks feeling "too entitled" about getting FPs. It isn't about feeling entitled-- it's just about the maximum threshold some people have for enjoying time spent in lines versus doing what they want to be doing. If you're one of those people who can just soak up magic while in line with your small children for an hour, well, first, I want some of whatever you are drinking, and second, more power to you. If your dream disney vacation includes a majority of your time spent just enjoying being in the parks, or sitting by the resort pool, that's awesome. I am not that type of person. I won't wait more than 30 minutes for anything on vacation. I hate waiting. I hate lines. I hate hearing kids (my own, or anyone elses) whine about waiting. It just totally makes me nuts. If I want to lounge around all day, I'll take the kids to a beach. At Disney, I like (and more importantly, my KIDS like) to actually DO things. So if I can't tour at Disney in a way that makes it so I can do the attractions and rides that I want to do without having 30 minute lines everywhere I look, I won't do it. And I'll be bummed about that, because I love WDW, but I love a fun vacation more, and waiting in lines all day is just no fun for me. I don't feel entitled to have 10 FPs a day-- I feel entitled to have a enjoyable vacation. And if the new Disney structure makes my trips less enjoyable by creating longer lines and fewer opportunities to schedule around long wait times, they will lose me. It just is what it is. I'm under no illusion that they will miss me, or that they owe me anything except for entry into their parks and a bed to sleep in.

The Fairy Godmother is now holding a cattle-prod rather than a magic wand.

Everyone complained about this...

...but I guess it was really foreshadowing in the largest possible sense!

I agree with you, I go to Disney to do things. There are a million other places in the world that I would go to if I just wanted to enjoy the atmosphere and eat.

I think there are a lot of people who have been so often or live close by or whatever, that they are not so phased by all of these changes. Or maybe that's just their personality type or maybe they really do just enjoy walking around the parks and soaking it in. And that's awesome, yay for them. But not everyone is in that position.

Glad it worked that way for you.

My wife once told a friend, "if you went to Disney World with us, you'd never be comfortable waiting in a line again." We were that good at avoiding any long waits using FPs. For some of us, it is a complete shift in how we've become accustomed to getting around the parks during a busy time.

Same with us. There still might be a way, and if there is... I am counting on you finding it and sharing it with me (private message though we need to keep it secret).

I think this is one of the most rationalized posts I've read. You know what you like and what you don't. You know what will make for a miserable vacation for you. I feel that this is what it boils down to for people who are angry about FP+.

We are one of those families that WILL wait in line, WILL sit on a park bench and soak it in. Believe it or not, my kids don't whine while waiting in line....and we're not drinking anything ;) but, I realize that's not everyone's situation...different strokes for different folks.

Just like anything else, there is no one size fits all for the masses unfortunately. Hopefully, just by way of us being able to gather information here (and hopefully more so from Disney at some point) everyone will be able to adapt or make decisions for their specific situation. :goodvibes

Hey, now....I wan't to be a part of Underground Abusers Club. We could wear really cool costumes and be known as The RAvengers. People would think we were smart, but just really bad at spelling. pixiedust:

Seems like most love your post but....there has always been "waiting in lines : at WDW way before FP and including FP days. There is no proof yet that this new system will create longer lines for your kids to whine in. Sounds like the beach is your kinda vacation. Hope the waves come in at a timely manner so you don't have to "wait" for them. Sure don't want ANY of what you're drinking.:smokin:

i haven't read the whole thread, but we just got back from a short trip, and I loved having my Fastpasses planned ahead of time. And if the time wasn't going to work out, we just pulled up the app on our phone and changed the time. So much easier than gathering up all the cards, sending the rest of the family in one direction, while me or DH ran somewhere to get a FP! I think it takes stress away from the day! We knew ahead of time when we were riding our favorites, and the rest just filled in between!

I hate that you had to cancel your vacation! I hope you get to come back soon!

Take a moment and reflect on the fact that you are passing the precious moments of your life going on a Disney message board and being rude to total strangers.

How ironic that this post was your 666th on this board. :scratchin

If by "most" you mean the two actual people who quoted her then I think you need to look up the definition of "most". And here I thought *I* was the rude one.

I guess since I liked her post as well that would make 3 people that found something of substance in it (more will see it later). I'm pretty sure that ups the status to "mostest".

Reflecting............No not being rude just stating my opinions like you did yours.::yes::

Thanks for keeping count of my posts Hatter ! My bad since I did not really count how many liked it and I guess I'm supposed to "find substance " in it because others did. Sorry if I feel differently.
Have a great night !

Well, if we're being honest here....when I read your reply I naturally drifted over to see who would reply like that. It was pretty simple to read the post count at that point. I also hate peripheral vision, too....just for the record.

Now you have just as many quotes as MABEE. Since you quoted her only 8 posts later I just assumed you knew there wasn't a majority of people who had said anything about her post.

Shine on crazy diamond.....

Opinions can be stated in a nice way. Really! It's possible!

(Sigh....)

Wow! This thread is almost as good as the ones about kids blowing bubbles while standing in line!

(Almost)

This is how I feel too. If the new Disney changes result in us having to spend a significant longer time in lines than we want to, we won't go because that would not be enjoyable for us. We aren't planning Disney World again until 2015 but if I decide that the trip will likely not be enjoyable for us due to MyMagic+, we will go elsewhere, maybe Disneyland or a Disney cruise, or maybe somewhere else. We enjoyed My Magic+ on our trip in September but I don't kid myself that our experience will be the same once everyone is using it.
