Update on trying to avoid timeshare desk at Bonnet Creek

We were there this week. After enduring a particularly long check in process, I tried to leave the lobby without stopping at the "parking pass desk" and was stopped by a rather rude lady she stopped me and insisted that I go to the desk even after I told her that I had to cut my stay short and would be there less than 12 hours. I explained my situation to the guy at the desk and he quickly gave me my packet and I left. I like the location of the resort and the condo was nice although dated (tower2). I also requested a room facing the parking lot and was told none were available. I doubt that was true given the time of year I was there. But since I was renting from a third party I was pretty sure that doomed me to a room without a view and one that hadn't been renovated. I probably will not return because I simply don't need that kind of hassle while I'm on vacation. I stayed at Floridays a few days earlier and had a wonderful experience. Very fast and very friendly check in.

Did you feel like it was necessary to have the parking pass? I'm hoping to skip the desk, but now I'm scared to try! LOL

They take your vehicle info at the check in desk, so no its not necessary. They just want to try to sell you a time share. I thought it was extremely rude for her to stop me and insist I stop at the desk.

I agree that it was rude. I was either going to skip it, or check in alone (leave hubby in the car) and tell them he wasn't with me. I almost want to go, just to see how rude and pushy they will be. I have absolutely NO intentions of attending their meeting. Planning to be at rope drop each morning, no time for that!

We were there last week. Parking pass not needed. We checked in late after the sales trolls had gone home and they gave me a "temporary" pass. We never checked back in for the "actual" pass and never had an issue getting into the resort--the parking gate things open automatically when you drive up to them.

I hope we don't run into any problems. My husband is convinced that we will, with it being a timeshare and all.

So many fears about this, and all so overblown! I love the parking pass desk! I've had no problems with the timeshare people. They're nice and give my kids balloons. They'll tell you what the offer is to go to a sales meeting, and that's about it. When asked to attend a meeting, all you have to say is no. If you're reading this you probably know that buying a timeshare is not a good deal -- especially at retail prices. When they ask, I say I've been to WBC dozens of times and love it, but I prefer to rent on Ebay or elsewhere. The timeshare people know I'm not going to be interested, and they leave me alone. They want to move on to others who might be a better target.

I love it when I see people signing up for tours and being led around by salespeople! That means they're selling more timeshares and building more great properties that I can rent for awesome deals.

I agree. The first time we went the boards had me so worried about getting my parking ticket. When I went to the desk that time they didn't say a word to me, just handed me the parking ticket. We were on 2nd floor facing lake and all week long we saw tours being given so I was surprised nothing was said to me. Last trip in December the desk had about four folks working it, busy signing folks up and I was sure that this would be a pressure point. The woman looked my name up on the list, handing me a package of information said "Here is your welcome package, you know the drill right?" I said "Yes, I'm not interested but I need two parking passes, my daughter is meeting me here." She printed out two, smiled and told me to have a great visit. No attempt at all to get me to book. One time our phone rang about halfway in to the week, we didn't answer and just unplugged it. NOTE: The company I book from has printed in red right across the agreement that no timeshare presentation is part of our reservation, I don't know if when they look at our name on the list it says anything in regards to how you booked, maybe some are more targets than others.

To get in and out of the parking lot you scan your room key. We found in the evenings the guards would just hit the button to open the gate as we were approaching. We joked about the safety on letting anyone through. I doubt you need the pass but I didn't want to worry about my cars so I got them.

I went to another Wyndham property and the "parking desk" attendants were asking people if they would like to enter to win a cruise. Of course, everyone was saying yes and they were being reeled in. I didn't feel like we could skip it because that place was listed on Trip Advisor as being sticklers for parking passes. They asked me and I said no, I'm not interested. I wasn't rude but the girl was sarcastic and said something about it being ridiculous and everybody wanting something for free. She actually left me to wait on someone else without giving me our passes. Another person showed up and asked if I would like a free cruise. I told her that I had already told the lady next to her that I wasn't interested and that we only needed our passes. She was very nice and whispered "I don't blame you."

If they got really pushy, I had a reply ready. I was going to tell them that I didn't think we were qualified since neither one of us was working. Technically, we were "out of work" since we were on vacation.

Usually don't bother with the parking pass - has never been needed. Did get one during our October trip...because dd wanted a balloon. (Go figure!) Folks at desk were very nice. No sales pitch, just asked if we were interested in the breakfast/tour. Not offended when we said "not this trip." Never heard another peep. We've always found the WBC staff to be very friendly and polite. Can't say enough good things about them.
