Update on SSR incentive & availability

Hello all!

Well I just got done adding 200 points onto our contract and thought I'd give the board an update on two things.

1. Availability of SSR: our new guide (Megan - really nice lady ) had to first check to see if there were any points left for SSR. Once she confirmed availability, I asked her about inventory and how long it may last. She figured it'll take about 10 more days till they are sold out on SSR points.



So for what it's worth, seems like the email/DVC website claim of dwindling stock may just be true. So if you were thinking of adding at SSR confused3 ), now would probably be a good time to make a move if you can.

2. Incentive: So we got $10 off per point, a $500 disney reward, & 2007 points with no maintenance fees. The best thing is we have a June use year, so we'll get 200 points to bank before June 1st, then another shot of points the 1st of June.

So worked out well I think. We really wanted to grab the extra points for 2007 so we were excited about that.

So that's the update for what it's worth. Hopefully everything will work out on our addition - I have a feeling this can only lead to more add-ons in the future! Oh, and to my lovely wife - thanks for going along with this plan - love you!

I hope so! I just got engaged in Disney World this May, and am getting married next May. Once I have pulled off & paid for a lovely wedding, feel comfortable in my house payments, and save another 10K to pay for a DVC purchase, I want a big BITE of the BLT.

DF is sold on the idea of buying into Contemporary, but we'll take AKV as a second choice. Anyways, he's the practical one and he says once my student debt is paid for, my wedding is done, and my house is financed; I get my DVC.

So if Contemporary Resort Villas could have inventory and nice incentives available in October 2009, I would be in heaven

I called today and asked why everyone was getting either gift cards or (at one time I had heard AP's). We bought in March but noone said anything to us about it. My guy told me originally it was only for 100pt add ons, but they are also now doing 50 pt add on incentives....He also said that he could somehow get us the $400 ($8 per pt - 50 pts bought) gift card but he needed to find out how. They are doing this because of the economy, and the stimulus thing. Hey $400 is great that will cover 2 of my DS's passes for this Aug.

Anyway, for anyone who has bought in that in between time of perks--call and ask about getting the perks. Disney cannot call you, but, if you call them and ask they can then do something. That is what Gib told me.

We just submitted our papers for our 160 SSR today for a 7/1 closing and got the same incentives with a December Use Year.

This is all very interesting to me. I had inquired about purchasing in April, I was assigned a guide, he advised me of the incentives which at the time match what you all are describing. He told me that they would be good until May 1. I called back last week and he told me that I missed the $500 gift card and there was nothing he could do about that, but they had Sept UY available and I would get the 07 point with no dues...but I had to use them before September or I would lose them because I had missed the banking window. We already have a trip planned for October and would not use those points. This was a turn off and he seemed firm, so we started looking at resales...

you have to add at least a 100 pts for the gift card.
and if they can they will try to get you the 2007 points in your UY.

IIRC, the $500 gift card is only available to current members who add 100+ points or new members who are referred by an existing DVC member.

Wow. Just got off the phone with our guide and we are #26 on the waiting list to add on 100 pts for an Oct UY at SSR. She said she had checked earlier for someone wanting to add on with a Feb UY and they are all sold out.

We then asked her to check for AKV and she told us that Oct UY with 2008 points were sold out there too!

If we don't get the add on at SSR then I guess we will wait for BLT.

Anyone want to venture a guess what our chances of getting our 100 add on points at SSR would be if we are so far down on the waiting list??

Bay Lake Tower - the new DVC property at the Contemporary Resort by the
Magic Kingdom.

We joke with our guide about the "parking garage" at the Contemporary since the guides can't legally discuss that property yet. Rumors are that once SSR sells out then BLT will be officially announced and sales will start soon afterwards.

Was wondering if availability at resorts varied based on UY? Saw earlier post indicating a waiting list for points basis the use year so was curious.


Guess we got lucky on the addition with a June UY.

That doesn't sound right at all. In fact, we got our 2007 points in our deal (200 points) with a June use year. So June 2008 is Sunday of this week - when we get a new set of 200 points. There was no way we could use the 2007 points and it is obviously passed the banking window - but we were indeed able to bank those points today once the contract was put in the system. We just had to do it on the phone as the member website won't let you do it.

Yes. The Use Year for points is determined at some point prior to the sale.

It should be expected that availability of points will vary for different Use Years. The same is true for all of the other resorts. DVC often has waiting lists for smaller sold-out resorts like the BoardWalk and Beach Club. Members waiting for add-on points aren't just waiting for any BCV or BWV points to come available...they are waiting for points that also match their Use Year.

Hi, we have added on 100 pts at SSR and just managed to get the June UY. (and 100 pts for 2007 at no charge) Not many points are left at the resort for June UY.
