Update on SSR incentive & availability

That doesn't sound right at all. In fact, we got our 2007 points in our deal (200 points) with a June use year. So June 2008 is Sunday of this week - when we get a new set of 200 points. There was no way we could use the 2007 points and it is obviously passed the banking window - but we were indeed able to bank those points today once the contract was put in the system. We just had to do it on the phone as the member website won't let you do it.

Based on what I'm seeing here I don't understand why he didn't offer the option of banking the 07 points. He was actually going through the II options with me so I could use them before September. If he would have let us bank them we would have been much more likely to purchase right then and there, but I felt like I could do better with resale at that point. We also had a referral on file so I don't understand why he was so rigid with the gift card incentive. We are not currently members so I wonder if that had something to do with it.

I have one reservation made for Sept 2008, and I don't know if I should try to rent/transfer the extra points left over.
I thought I understood it all when we bought - turns out I don't!

They decided to rename to Kingdom Towers to Bay Lake Tower. Hence the BLT, the Big Sandwich!

This is all very interesting to me. I had inquired about purchasing in April, I was assigned a guide, he advised me of the incentives which at the time match what you all are describing. He told me that they would be good until May 1. I called back last week and he told me that I missed the $500 gift card and there was nothing he could do about that, but they had Sept UY available and I would get the 07 point with no dues...but I had to use them before September or I would lose them because I had missed the banking window. We already have a trip planned for October and would not use those points. This was a turn off and he seemed firm, so we started looking at resales...

Krissy04. Your guide was grossly misinformed. I confirm with djmeen. New purchase points can be banked after the banking window one time. I just did it on a May purchase of SSR with Sep 07 UY. Those points will need to be used by Aug 31, 2009.

If your UY was September 07, you had until April 30 to bank those points to be used by August 31, 2009. When did you actually purchase? March/April? Sounds like you may be afforded a one time bank of those points if you call your guide and ask for assistance. You will not be able to do it on the website. All I had to do was call MS and they banked mine no questions asked.

Okay - so let me get this straight. You bought in April of this year with a Sept. use year. So you were given "2007" points which would technically be good from Sept. 1, 2007 through Aug. 31, 2008.

Now - you banked those points, right?

If so, then those points are available for "2008" UY, which in your case will be from Sept. 2008 through end of August 2009. Now you have to use those points during that time frame.

But, no carrying them over again - it's a one time shot for those 2007 points. Of course you can bank your 2008 points, or borrow from your 2009 points. But I digress....

Lol - when Teri and I joined up, I'd say the first year was the most confusing. We read and re-read the rules and of course lived on these boards. They are such as good resource with alot of REALLY knowledgable folks. DVC wizards!

DVC has generally been allowing new buyers to bank their 1st batch of points after the banking deadline. This is a courtesy/exception they have been offering for buyers- but it is not official policy. If you are buying a new contract and you will want to bank after your banking deadline tell your guide before you purchase and make sure they say that you will be allowed.

Of course, this is only for those buying through Disney- they will not make this exception for those buying resale.

If you transfer, they are transferred for the one use year that you are transferring to another member. You cannot transfer banked or borrowed points.

We received the $500 gift card when we bought our original 160 pt contract in May (we had a referral) and were told we would get another gift card when we called to add on another 100 points a few weeks later.

Our guide is: Marybella Quinones but she is on vacation until Sunday.

I just added on 100 points today and I got the Gift Card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We just added another 100 at SSR last month. I was greatful I didn't have to get on the waitlist. We got 10.00 off a point and a 500.00 gc. She did have to check if Aug was available and it was. She told me last month SSR was close to selling out. I was so glad we added on we wanted to add at our favorite resort.

I'm sorry to say I was never told what number we were on the waitlist. He left me a message on Thursday telling me we could not add on with our use year. Then today he called me today and said it was a go he was able to work it out!!!!!!!!!!

I called today to try and get 50 added at DEC UY as i made a bad error of only geting 110 to start when i joined last week. Heres hoping i can get them as the SSR incentives were nice and being a cast member helps to hehe.
