Beth's husband Jim just called me from the hospital. He asked me to post how Beth is doing on the DIS. They do not have a way to post from her hospital room right now.
Beth remains very sick and is still in the hospital. The gamma knife procedure has not so far reduced the swelling from the brain tumors and the resulting pressure on the brain stem (although they still expect that the gamma knife procedure will give relief) so they have her on steriods. She also takes strong pain meds every 3 hours. The combination of the two has left her in a constant state of confusion and very emotional. He is staying at the hospital with her basically round the clock since she really needs him but he says she sometimes does not recognize him. He attributes this to the level of meds.
There is a chance she will be released tomorrow but she will need heavy duty home health care.
He sounded more upbeat than I would have thought. It sounds like they have hope that the swelling will go down soon, and she will bounce back from this current crisis.
I assured him that their family is constantly in our thoughts and prayers. I told him even though we have not met Beth we feel very connected to her.
I would like to request that you continue to keep Beth in your prayers.
Thanks.
