As some may remember I had some issues with housekeeping and maintaince during my stay at the Poly in Oct. Several weeks after returning home I emailed Disney and described some of the issues we encountered during our stay. I recieved a phone call and I must say I am very pleased with how Disney handled the situation. My sincerest hope is that the Poly management will address the issues and improve their housekeeping department. The Poly is a beautiful resort and a wonderful location but if I decide to stay there in the future and encounter these problems again...I must say I would have to throw a fit whilest at my happy place. But kudos for Disney's customer service.

But I feel issues should be handled right on the spot, as they incur. Waiting to come home and then emailing or calling is after the fact. I'ld have gone to guest services or relations, got a hold of the supervisor of housekeeping and had the issue resolved now. If enough guests have complaints and get it taken care of right away maybe these issues won't be issues anymore. I know most mousekeepers try to do a great job but there are a few, in all walks of life, that let a few things slide. If they get away with it once, it occurs more regularly, just make sure to contact the proper people to get results. If management isn't aware of the problem, or a problem exist, how can they handle it or fix it.

Snow Witch, are you the guest who had all the A/C issues in your room? I remember reading a while back about somebody's battle with the temps in the room. Either terribly hot or terribly cold! Pepe is right... the time to handle problems is when you are there, and even then, according to some posters, the problem is not handled!! Of course, it doesn't hurt to phone or write after the fact, and frankly, I think you're lucky to have even have gotten a call about it!!

I agree with you. In Dec 2005 at the Contemporary there were some housekeeping issues my family and I had, because we thought our housekeeper was not doing the best job she could and it was clear in the way our room was being cleaned. We also knew it was the same one everyday. Anyway my parents spoke to the Managers of housekeeping and told them this, so they appologized for what happened and said they would speak with our original housekeeper about the situation. They also got a new housekeeper to clean our room for the rest of our stay and she did a much better job.

I agree with taking care of them on the spot also. I have never had something not taken care of when it was addressed to management. They in most cases want to take care of it.

Were you the one with the bathtub "issues" in the room who went to walmart for cleaning supplies? If so, just wondering what the disney response was?

Yes I believe you were the one on Aetoroa longhouse with all the bathrrom & housekeeping issues. Did they at least compensate you? By the way she did complain while she was there but it didn't help.

I don't know what the problems were but I do feel that sometimes issues are better left until you get home. We were there a few years ago for my birthday and everything was botched - to the gift basket coming the wrong days, the preordered and paid for birthday cake not being there at Ohana's to the card from Daffy and Donald being in the wrong name. If I had discussed this with someone at the time I would have got very upset and dwelled on it during it the holiday. I decided to let it go during the holiday and deal with it afterwards. Othertimes I have certainly dealt with it at the time as I did at HRH last year with their housekeeping department. At the end of the day, it is your holiday and how you deal with it is up to you. I'm just glad you were able to sort it all out and get the response you needed to put it behind you.

Yes, I was the one with the bath tub issues who called numerous times while on property. However, there came a point when I refused to take up anymore of my vacation time to deal with an issue that was serious enough to have been dealt with with one phone call. While I am at my happy place I would rather not deal with ugliness. I was at a point with this issue that it would have been ugly so I choose to deal with it further upon returning home.

We were compensated a percentage of our stay. I found it interesting she mentioned the number of times we had stayed at the Poly and on property and how much we were appreciated as loyal customers. I felt all in all it was handled well.

I think most of us would like to take care of "issues" on the spot....but when at Disney, nothing short of illness or injury is going to make me miss rope drop! When you've got full days scheduled, there is just a limited amount of time one is willing to spend to address things. Can you imagine explaining to the kids, "No, you won't be able to ride Dumbo today because we have to stay here and make sure the bathroom gets cleaned." Not gonna happen.

LOL! I agree with you on that one. I stayed at the Poly last December because our flight was cancelled AFTER we checked in at the airpot and AFTER the plane got there. I was so stressed trying to get a room, a rental car (again!), and a new flight (no direct ones available for FOUR days!) that I wanted to make the most out of the extra time. So I didn't complain when I was getting the kids ready for the parks the next morning and found dirty socks in the closet AND over the safe. (Seriously folks, WHY would someone put their dirty socks in the little space between the safe and the shelf above it??? ADULT size socks too!)

I had an issue at Movies where my hubby took the key to the safe when we checked out and left our keys in it! They couldn't get ahold of the new guests that had checked in and said they weren't allowed to enter. This after they said they'd call us back and hubby missed dinner waiting in our new room for that call (we had a split stay) Believe ME, I got my keys back that next day! That was one I stayed, fought for, and wouldn't take no for an answer. I couldn't get home otherwise! The housecleaning at the Poly - I dealt with later.
