Just got off the phone w/Disney Dining (making ADRs for our January 2007 trip)...they told me all of last year's participating restaurants are now back in the DDP...and three new ones, all in DTD (Cap'n Jack's, Portobellow Yacht Club, and Ranforest Cafe)...we were thrilled, as my S's very most favorite restaurant, Alfredo's, had not been on the initial 2007 DDP list, but is now on it...

Thought you-all would like to know!

AllEarsNet has it here - but no mention of Rainforest Cafe or Portobello. Maybe those were JUST added... I wonder if it'll be both Rainforest Cafes or just the DTD one.

So does this mean that members can now purchase the DDP when staying on points in 2007? Last time I checked members weren't yet able to purchase DDP for 2007? If we can, that is awesome!

Thanks!

Yes, that information came out a week or two ago.

I had no problem adding the dining plan several weeks ago for my 12/31/06-1/9/07 trip.

I should check if the price quoted over the phone includes the $1 hike... this was before that was annouced.

Here's the web address for the Disney Dining Plan on the disneyworld.com website: http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/m...ecific/eng/nontheme/tickets/07Dining.pdf--but I just checked it again and it's not updated.

My info comes from talking to a CM at MS this morning (8/24)...I made DDP reservations including a restaurant (Alfredo's) that was not on the list posted by Disney. AllEarsNet has a more up to date list...another poster (on the dining forum) said only one of the two Rainforest Cafe's is participating, but I don't know which one--I forgot that there were two and didn't ask...

I guess the best thing to do is make your ADRs and ask if your choice is on the plan or not--and have a back-up in mind in case the answer is no?

Yup... I have back-ups made for the two restaurants we were planning on for 2007, plus I made a Raglan Rd reservation for the 31st as well. :) But it looks like I'll be able to keep all my original plans.

i must be behind the times...i thought i had recently read that many of the restaurants that had previously participated in the DDP - especially those in the World Showcase at Epcot - were bowing OUT of the program for 2007...was i mis-informed?

There was speculation that some were dropped, because they weren't on the 2007 brochure. But they were all (I think) non-Disney-owned restaurants, and the contracts were being negotiated, and they're all back on board now.

That's too bad. DDP is RUINING Disney dining.

They can't shoot a stake in its heart soon enough for me.

Perhaps you'd enjoy a restaurant where they specialized in sour grapes?

So more people are getting to enjoy Disney's restaurants and you can't just walk in. Perhaps you'd also prefer a return to the A-E ticket system, so that only those who can afford to can ride the good rides and you won't have to wait in line for Space Mountain or Rock 'n' Rollercoaster? Or should they just keep raising prices to cut down on the demand? Sorry, Disney's a busy place and you can't expect to walk into Le Cellier with no wait any more than you should expect to be able to book Christmas at Grand Floridian on December 20th.

The only other reason to complain about the DDP is the changing menus, but menus changed plenty before the DDP, as well, and will keep changing in the future.

But that's a whole different tangent that has no place in this thread.

I think what was being referred to is that the menus starting to look the same. Kind of like when I was in the army. No matter what mess hall you went into, it was all the same.

The uniqueness is disappearing.

Sour grapes? Yikes...something about pots and kettles are coming to mind!!

Seriously...talk about not "affording"? The DDP is EXPENSIVE!! I imagine those who are truly on a budget are not opting to do this that often. This has nothing to do with making dining more affordable, it has to do with selling more, and making WDW more money. Trust me, WDW is not doing anyone (especially those who are "financially challenged" any favors).

FWIW...I am not a fan of the DDP either. We would just waste too much food on that plan, and it is too expensive.

WOW, you guys!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I had to popcorn::

Well, before the DDP, and before we joined in with DVC, we booked into a WDW hotel and chose a dining plan of Silver, Bronze, or Gold... We ate three sit-down meals per day!!! Not intending to start a "problem" but... I was kind of hoping that they would have some sort of dining plan like that at some point... Maybe they can add on to the DDP in a way that would include a "better plan" to include 2 TS or 3 TS per day as people choose... Of course, we would have to pay dearly for it, but we had a blast and tried out food places we wouldn't have thought of before then.

Looks like your thread has gotten off topic a bit. Just wanted to post to thank you for the information. We don't think we'll do the DP at any point (we drive and enjoy some off site restaurants) but it's nice to keep up to speed on the options that are out there.

Thanks! :)

From what I've seen, most of the DDP grumblers have really kicked the grumbling into high gear during the "free dining" promotions. I had to pay last time and will have to pay next time, but I can't be upset that countless people are enjoying an extremely nice option for free.

No, you were right. When Disney announced the plan for 2007, no non-Disney owned restaurants were on it, including most of the world showcase and DTD. Many people speculated that these restaurants were negotiating with Disney about how much they are paid for accepting the plan. Apparently, they are all happy with Disney now, because all the 2006 restaurants are now back in, plus some new ones.

Wait a sec....the world showcase restaurants are not WDW owned?
