We're so sad. My daughter's security baby doll was lost on our recent trip. She was wrapped up in the bed linens, and taken off to laundry services. Normally, we wouldn't have left her in the bed like that. We were in the Villas, and we weren't scheduled to have housekeeping services. So - now after 10 phone calls to lost and found, we are stumped. They aren't even returning my phone calls now. My daughter asked Santa to bring back DeeDee from Disney world for Christmas. I just needed to vent some sadness and frustration over the whole thing. Mommies feel like they should always be able to fix the messes, but this one I can't fix. Sniff. :sad1:
Thanks for listening.

I hope you find DeeDee! Disney is very good about lost items. I have lost several things over the years, and was AMAZED when I called lost and found at each resort, they not only had the item, but also mailed it to me. Once it was my DD's princess crown, once it was a black hoodie type jacket (mine) and another time it was simply a little beaded necklace that DD made at AKL at the Kid's Club.

Hopefully they are checking laundry and dryers and such. Good luck!

Is Dee Dee a one-of-a kind doll, or can you find one on EBay and tell her Disney found it? DS had a little snowman stuffed toy that I thought we lost once and I got a replacement on EBay. Of course later we found the original "Snowy", so he then had Snowy I and Snowy II. Even if you find a new "Dee Dee" and it looks clean, etc., you could tell her it went through the laundry or had to go to a doll hospital or something.

Awww! That's so sad! It reminds me of when I was a little girl, I had a very special plush doggie named "Snuggles". I was so attached to that little dog. One night while staying at the Jersey Shore (Wildwood Crest, NJ), the doggie was lost in the laundey services but was later found.

I do hope so much for little Dee Dee to be found. I know how deterimental that was to me when I was a child. Sending pixie dust your way!

My youngest DS, now 22, had a bear he was attached to. I was always afraid he was going to lose Bubba. Bubba always traveled with us be it Seattle or London. I knew my youngest niece had a Bubba too. While it wouldn't be the same one, he was the same. My Mom had bought 2 one for my son, for his first Christmas, and the other for my 6 yo niece. DS was very attached to him. He now longer has fur in some spots and has cataracts in both eyes. ;) He was a well loved bear.

Keep the faith, my son's tiny bear was taken with the laundry at the Poly. He was returned! If I remember it was about a week before he was found. It was a great phone call! I hope you have the same luck!

Very similar story for us...back in 2000 we had a 6am flight out of Philly to DisneyWorld so we decided to stay at the hotel that's connected to the terminal by an inside walkway, so all we'd need to do is get up and walk to the gate.

My daughter had a small, beanie-type Panda Bear that she always slept with...couldn't have been larger than an adult fist.

Well, somehow Panda didn't make it into the suitcase and we missed him because he got wrapped up in the sheets. We flew to Disney, hit the parks and spent all day out and about. At 10pm we finally get to the room to unpack and no Panda. My daughter was hysterical, both overtired and sad because she didn't have Panda to sleep with.

I immediately phoned the Marriott back in Philly, gave them our room number and described the bear. They couldn't do anything about it that night because Housekeeping was already gone, but promised to get them the message and call if they found it.

Darned if the next day, after we returned from the parks at dinnertime, there was a message from the Marriott...they FOUND Panda and only wanted to know where to ship him. They didn't even charge me for the shipping; were only too happy to reunite him with my daughter.

I hope they find your daughter's...it may take time, but don't give up. Disney has a LOT more daily laundry than one Marriott.

So, so sorry. :sad1:
My little girl lost her baby a couple years ago in Disney, but we did find baby laying on a bench along the boardwalk. I hope BC finds your daugher's doll. It makes me so sad to think about it. Please keep us updated if BC calls you back with some good news.

I'm so sorry about your daughter's DeeDee. I understand how you feel. We took our niece to AKL for the first time when she was 4. Her mother was in the process of divorcing her abusive father and her little life had been very hard lately. She was very attached to her binky (pacifier). We stayed our first night in a standard room and then moved to a savannah view room the next day. In all of the move mess we thought we left binky in the bedding. I felt terrible. She was crying really hard when we couldn't find binky for her nap. I called mousekeeping and urgently explained the situation. The housekeeping manager went personally to the laundry and searched for the binky. She came up to our room and said she couldn't find it but that they would keep looking. I felt like a terrible aunt. We got her down for her nap. That evening when we were getting ready to go to dinner I opened my makeup case and to my great relief their was binky. I completely forgot I put it in there to "keep it safe". I hope your story has a happy ending soon, like ours did.

Inkspired....what does she look like? I sell lovey's on ebay all the time and have a few stashed to sell - but if I have a match - I am happy to mail her to you! PM me a description/photo - let me see if I have it!

Same thing happened to us.. we lost our pooh my little girl got for her first Christmas... I think I cried a lot more than my child.. it broke my heart!

Same thing happened to us at AKL. My daughters little white(sorta!) dog got taken away with the sheets! We discovered it when we returned at 11PM from the parks with a 5AM departure the next morning.:sad2: I went down to the front desk and filled out an official missing/lost and found card and the CM on duty gave me the number for Disney Lost and Found. I called first thing Monday morning and the person on duty didn't give me much hope for a return. One of our happiest days was when little Cupid arrived in the mail about a week later!!!!:yay: She was even whiter than before since she had been through the laundry! Keep calling and don't give up hope!!!!

Ink - I know how you feel! My DD has a blanket (shes name it Bang) that she is very attached to. We started off with 5, and we are down to 1! I pray when we go to Disney she doesn't loose it there (or anywhere else in between).
Also, are you talking about DeeDee from the Doodlebops? I know the dolls that you get at their shows are very hard to find (my daughter has them all) other than at the shows... but they are still touring, maybe you can call the company and order one? Good luck! I'm rooting for you! :cheer2:

Keep us posted!

Thanks for all of the kind words and Pixie dust. I'm trying to stay positive, but DeeDee was lost on November 15th, and I'm beginning to lose faith. I'm still calling every few days, so we'll see.
I actually found a similar looking doll on ebay. Same face, different body, but it may be an option of if comes down to it. She is a Baby Gund doll. (Not DeeDee from the DoodleBops, dare I say, "Thank goodness!")

I'll keep you posted on any developments. I've enjoyed hearing about everyone's similar situations, and the happy endings.

I dont think WDW is that great with lost items...I have read alot of posts where people never got their items back...

3 years ago we left CBR at 4 am because DH had to be back at work and I realized I left my meds and his sweatpants in the room...it was about 7 am and I called the resort and spoke to someone that said the maids already cleaned that room and didnt see anything....I said impossible because no one knew that we were leaving so early and technically I still had use of the room for a few more hours AND I left the do not disturb sign on the outside of the door...when we checked out the bill wasnt even on my door yet...so how could the room be cleaned already?? I thought the maids started at 8 am??

I called and spoke to the manager and he said the same thing...room was already cleaned and no items were found.

My son lost his teddy bear to the linen service at the Poly in June. Teddy turned up a few weeks later he turned up without his jeans. At least we got him back. Jay

i feel so bad that this happened.

we have a ritual to minimize the risk of this kind of thing happening. before we leave the hotel room, all the "loveys" go back into a carry-on duffle bag. it's kind of like a "roll call." especially since oldest DD's blankey is "white" and easily mixed in with the sheets. it's the same bag we use to carry them onto the airplane, since, of course, we would never risk packing any of these items in a checked bag. youngest DD is now 11, but still has her special things (they all still do) and they still go into the carry-on before we leave a room. hth someone.

we were at WDW this Nov and DD had her blanket with her and I left her with DH watching tv at Pop, while I checked in at the desk alone, after check in, we put our carryons in luggage check and hit the parks, at bedtime we realised we didnt have her blanket and it was a rough two hours till she fell asleep, in the morning we called everyone we could think of to help find it , and then went to the parks, and when we returned from parks her blanket was sitting on our bed in the room, found! Yeah!! My suggestion is to attatch a luggage tag to it with cell phone number, address, hotel etc, I know I WILL DO THAT NEXT TIME! Good luck!:wizard:

Well, here's another success story:
I left my Hello Kitty Discman (how old does that sound? Haha!!) in a cabinet in the kitchenette of a Hilton in NYC. I put it there so I wouldn't lose it. Haha! Anyway, we had moved to the Hilton Times Square for the second half of our trip, and I still hadn't realized I was missing it. Once I got on the plane (a week later), I freaked! We called and not only had they found it, but they shipped it to me at no charge. I also have a free pillowcase they wrapped it in for shipping! Haha!

Hope she's found!!
