UPDATE!!!! Looks like my 16 year old cat will be OK.!!!!

I am so sorry for you. I truly know what you are going thru, I had to have my dog put down today (she was 15) and it was the hardest decision to make but as the vet told me , we know when to make this decision for our pets and it is for the best.

I'm so sorry. My cat was 16 when we had to do the same thing. Very, very sad. :(

I'm so sorry to hear this. Sixteen years is a very long life and is a testament to the the good care you've given your boy. Truthfully, though, no matter how long we have them in our lives, it's never long enough. And the final decision we have to make, though the most loving one, is also the most difficult.

I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty. Many {{{{{{HUGS}}}}} for you, Faith.

Faith, I'm so sorry...

Are you sure? I hope there's something that can be done and I'll be praying for you.

Let us know and

God bless,

Robinrs

I'm so sorry. I know how you feel, my 15 1/2 year old kitty (Muffin) was at the vet hospital last week for 3 nights and her kidney #'s (BUN) are off the scale. The vet said it's just a matter of time, probably not long. They gave her fluids, stopped the vomiting, got her eating again and sent her home to enjoy her final days. We felt so bad because she got sick while we were at WDW 2 weeks ago. My brothers checked on her everyday and she was OK until a couple days before we got home. We got home and she had vomited on 2 of the bedspreads. If she gets sick again, we will put her to sleep. She wasn't eating much yesterday and I thought that was going to be it but she perked up today and ate some. It's so hard...

As someone else said, we assume you have already been dealing with the illness. Otherwise, sometimes the cat can be treated - even at that age. We had to have our cat put down last November. However, we brought him back from very poor condition several times during his life. This time, however, he just was not responding to treatment. He was of unknown age. We had him for 12 years, but he was an adult cat when we got him.

He spent the night, and is on heavy Infection Medicine and a IV! He will call us later on today, after 12 noon, and let us know his progress.:D Thanks for the Paryers and Pixie Dust!;)

The "Technician" called and said that Gizmo was eating, and holding down the food! Thank YOU!;) They are going to do another CVC to see if the infection medicine was working or not. I guess he will call again after 5:00pm to give us the latest. So far, the Bill is 500.00!

Good to hear that it sounds like he will be OK after all.

The Dr. Called at 6:30 pm, and said GIZMO's White count has improved, so that is a good thing, the Medicine he chose, is working.;) He also said, that he will spend another night, and we will take him home late tomorrow. He is also EATING like a horse, so thats also a good thing.;) :bounce: Thanks again, for ALL of YOUR prayers.;) Faith.
