**UPDATE**If you used Webcert/MC for DisneyDollars at a Chicago-area Disney Store?

Thanks to Malecifent2 and others, I cashed in/converted "My Points" for a $50 WebCertificate and received a MC account number.
I think it was DisneyCub who posted going to a local Disney store and redeeming web certs by printing out MC account number info from the "webcertificate" site. A Disney Store manager approves it for purchase of disney dollars. This avoids the need to purchase a plastic MC charging card for shopping "off-line"/at the mall stores. This is a great idea and makes sense to me!

Well, today I gave this a try at my local "YORKTOWN Mall" Disney Store. The employee had no knowledge of "MyPoints" webcerts. I continued to explain as best I could/showed her all the printed pages I had. She thought I should be shopping "on-line" at DisneyStore.com and was hung-up on the fact that it wasn't "cash" but "web-certificates" and I didn't have a plastic charging card. I asked if she could enter the MC number manually/the cash was there etc., but she couldn't do anything--needed manager approval, etc. and they currently don't have a manager. I asked is there was any local disney stores that did have managers and she said, yes, OakBrook, but they are only over their own store. I asked her to call the store to see if they had any knowledge of my situation so I didn't make an unnecessary trip (had my kids with me) but she wasn't able to get through and...I finally gave up.
So...I am hoping that someone in the Chicago area has been able to redeem their Web Certificates in the above manner? What store did you go to?

I live in Milwaukee and have 3 Disney stores near me but I have done what youre doing 4 times and only once did I have a CM say she need the plastic card so I just went to another store and just ahppened to get the manager who was more then willing to put through the # manually. I guess its just the luck if you get the right CM or manager at the right time.

Just dont give up it will work

I've been wondering about our local Disney stores also. I've got a webbie coming in the next week or so.

I wonder if you call and order over the phone if there would be a problem? Has anyone ever done this???

Hello there, We live in the chicago area also. We Just did that with the webcertificates. All we did was print out my account info from webcertificate.com & brought it to the disney store at Oak Brook, ask them to manually punch in the numbers & I left with my 20 Disney Dollars. Try it at the oakbook disney store, & GOOD LUCK to you. Let us know what happens. Diswife

Just wanted to post about my success! Today, I finally got over to the Oak Brook Disney Store. Hooray! I had no problems redeeming my printout/copies of webcertificate info for $50 Disney Dollars!
We are heading down to WDW in a few days and I will have my Disney Dollars to spend.
I guess I'll keep collecting bonus points for more web certificates / "Disney Dollars" !

I've learned that it all depends on which CM you get. The last time I went to get Disney Dollars, they wanted the plastic card. So I just went ahead, spent the $6.95 and got the plastic. Figured that I'd waste that much in gas going to and from TDS anyway.

I'm glad to hear this worked somewhere. I couldn't get my local DS to understand. I explained everything and they wouldn't even consider it. We're in NW Indiana, and there's only one DS nearby.

Is there a way to get Disney $$s online? It sure would save a lot of hassle.

I used it twice at the SOuthridge store the first time I had no problems the second time the CM said she needed the plastic card so a few days later I went to Mayfair and just happened to get the manager who put it through with no problem and was very interested in rewards and how people use them to pay for there Disney vacations. The last time I just went right to Mayfair.

A few years ago I worked at the DS at Southridge for Christmas so if theres this one CM there that was there when I was I try to go through her since she knows me. Actually Southridge is closer for me but we usually check out the other two store as well.

How knows we might have seen each other at one of the malls!!!!

Oh, the humiliation!!!

I went to the Disney Store closest to home (Mayfair Mall for the locals). I explained about Web Certs and programs to the CM. She looked at me like I had 2 HEADS! She went back to ask her manager, and came back with a different look -- suspicion! She said they had never heard of such a thing and would not honor it.

As she eyed me suspiciously, I paid for the merchandise I had with cash. I'm the last person in the world to put a con over on somebody, so the looks she was giving me kind of freaked me out. As she was checking with her manager, the line started to build up behind me. Aaacckkk, they all gave me a suspicous look after I paid for my stuff. Even the kids.

I won' t be trying THAT again. I'll either get the card or stick to non-suspicious internet shopping.

Thanks for the tips. If I muster up the gumption to try the webcert in person again, I'll let you know of my success or failure.

We moved out to Brookfield last year. I love the wide open spaces and the schools for the kids. I grew up fairly close to Southridge. It's a small world!

Anyway sorry to hear you had problems. I did too that one time I said to the CM that another CM put it through a few months earlier she said "Well she shouldn't have done it" end of story!!!

I've had friendlier CM!!!!

SO i just waited probably a few days and went to Mayfair where I got a manger who put it through and was interested in rewards it was nice cause the store was quite so we had a nice conversaion on rewards!!!

Let things settle down a bit and get the courage to try again!!!
another store another CM and hopefully a different ending!!!

ANother option that might work (Ive haven't tried it yet but I see you're going to Disney soon if youre staying at a Disney hotel call and put a deposit on your room using your webcertificate over the phone that way just like buying anything over the phone and you have to give a MC #. Actually this would work at any hotel not just Disney.
