on giftcards.com :scared1: SO I went online.....and sold three gift cards yesterday. Today I take the three cards to the post office in a small photo mailer to mail them in. In my mind I thought I could insure them for the value....100 bucks. :confused3 The address I am mailing to has Giftscards. com as part of the address.. The clerk told me I could not insure them because they are gift cards and they are stolen all the time. :scared1: Well....yeah...I guess that would be TRUE...... ESPECIALLY WHEN THE COMPANY ADDRESS HAS GIFTCARD.COM AS PART OF THE ADDRESS. :bitelip: So I probably should have just said forget it. BUT......I put my faith into the US Postal System and
went ahead and mailed it...but I doubt I will ever see the 72 buck check they are supposed to send me.

I've never sold gift cards but I have heard of this site and it does seem legit. Fingers crossed all works out for you.

The website seems fine....but mailing them to an address that SCREAMS there are gift cards in this envelope....just seems to be an open invitation for problems.

You should have sent them registered mail. Registered mail must be signed for every time it changes hands and kept under lock and key while in postal custody.

There would then be a paper trail to follow if they did not show up.

You could also try certified mail as a cheaper option, but it is not as secure as registered mail.

Oh yeah....I guess that is a good way to do it.

Just an FYI

I just saw that one of the cash for gold places, 650 Gold, buys gift cards. So if you have one close by you could try doing business with someone locally.

I have always just sold giftcards on ebay - I get 85-90% of the value doing so.

So, if you're not sure you will even get the money, then why bother, at all??

Even though it's probably legit, if I'm not confident about something...

You have to send the cards before you get payment? That sounds odd. I would have sold them on ebay or amazon. That way you get paid up front.

I thought I could insure them when I was at the postoffice...then he said no. SO I just decided since I had waited in a long line..my as well just risk the biscuit (as my son says) and just mail them in. SO I did. They were gift cards given to me over the past 2 years, never used them. So it won't be the end of the world if I never get the money. I guess I could have walked out with them in hand and not mailed them ...but I didn't. We shall see what happens.

I have never had anyone at the post office tell me I couldn't insure a package. I think I would check further on that one....

My local USPS said ... I could not insure a letter/envelope.

Now ... I send Priority Mail (small box or envelope) and add insurance.

I was in the local Safeway grocery store last Sunday and noticed that you can sell them your gift cards. Not sure how much they discount them. The only ones I have are my Disney ones and my Starbucks and I'm not about to sell either!

If the address didn't say Giftcards.com as the first line....maybe I could have. As soon as he saw that...he said..."Oh we can't insure gift cards". I asked why and he said something like they are too risky or something.

giftcards are usually not traceable and the post office has no way of knowing what is actually on them. I can totally understand why they would not want to be responsible in any way for them. what is odd is that in theory if you hand them to the post office and the next non post worker to touch them should be an employee at this company I don't know why they disappear all the time. :rotfl: unless they leave the envelopes on the street it's like just admitting things get stolen in transit by workers which most shipping companies try to hide from the public.

That is what I was about to suggest and what I would have done

You're worried about a Post Office employee stealing your envelope? I think you'll be fine.

Not odd at all. You are selling to a company that then re-sells them, this is how they all work. Once they receive the card and verify the value then you get paid. Ebay is hit or miss, used to sell gc's there but there are too many scammer and I only need to be burned once to learn my lesson :crazy2:

I have sold several cards to these websites and never had a problem - one of them was Gift Card Rescue and had that on the address. If you had any doubts why sell the card to that site? :confused3

Okay folks...this was the first time trying this. YES I COULD HAVE WALKED OUT and not mailed them...but I did. THE END!! I will report back if I get my money. I usually always use my gift cards.
