UPDATE

My Daughter is well in her second month in the Disney College Program and working in Housekeeping. After being accepted she began reading mostly negative stories from others who have worked in housekeeping. She went in expecting the worst but she was determined to make the best of it. As it turned out the stories she was reading were completely unfounded. Yes the work is hard but she is having the time of her life.

My Daughter who is a Senior and a Hospitality major was recently accepted into the Disney College program. She was offered a position in Housekeeping on Thursday . Her tears of joy quickly vanished as She began to read posts and blogs from others who had worked in housekeeping. Words of encouragement from her family have not seemed to be all that effective. Any Positive comments from those who had or is currently working in Housekeeping would be appreciated.

Thank You

I've heard nothing but great things! It's very relaxed and you kinda work on your own schedule and can take break when you want and for as long as you want as long as you get your stuff done by 4 I believe and it's good because unlike the jobs in the park where you could work till 4 in the morning you know in housekeeping you have steady hours of 8-4

my daughter did housekeeping for a while during her time, the thing that was the best was the solid hours she got, she had the 8-4 shift 5 days a week, plus they get to keep any tips left in the room, plus she also picked up a few mugs and such, when people just didn't bother taking them home. She did well enough that they trained her to be a trainer within a month after she got there, which was a plus. over all it's not a bad job.

My DD is in the DCP currently and is housekeeping for All Stars. She works the afternoon/evening shift as a runner and loves it! She's been able to make some Disney magic for families and enjoys all the people she works with. So far it's been a fantastic experience!

Hey Heather

Thank you for replying to this tread.
My DD is working at Port Orleans and loves it as well. She is working hard and picking up an additional two rooms a day.
I think making Disney Magic for Family's is the Highlight of her day as well. Yesterday She was invited to take a behind the scenes tour of the Hollywood Tower of Terror before the parks opening. We talk every night and will be seeing her at the end of May.

My mom and I will be there in April to see my daughter, and we are staying at Port Orleans!! Lol! My daughter and I FaceTime almost every morning while she's getting dressed. Are you on the DCP parents Facebook page??? There is a wealth of information and encouragement on that group!
