I recently bought a new computer and we are finally up and running. Problem is there are a couple of web sites that I can't view the pictures. It happens on eBay and on searsphotos.com, however when I tried it at work I was able to view both. When I go to eBay I can see the pictures on the lists, but when I go in to view an item the picture never loads, I can see on the bottom left corner of the screen that two items remain to download, but they never load. And with searsphotos.com I can't even get to their web page. Does anyone have a clue as to why this would happen and what I can do to remedy the problem? I am so frustrated!

That's not really my area, but I'm sure JC can help. He'll be in in the morning, but maybe I can get the ball rolling. :)

It sounds like you may need to run some updates. What kind of system do you have? Are you running Internet Explorer or Netscape? Do you know what version?

You might want to go to the microsoft site and upgrade to 6.0 or you might want to see what Mr. Cricket has to say in the morning. :)

Those sound like 2 different problems. Can you give me a specific link to a page that wont load or a page with a picture that doesn't load?

JC,

My DH seems to think it is our provider who is having the problem. He was able to access two of the sites for a brief time last night, but again I can not access them. The sites I can't access so far are: www.searsphotos.com; www.playtexbras.com; and when I access www.ebay.com I can only view about 10% of the pictures that are posted. I have tried contacting Dell support, but have yet to hear back from them. If you can shed any light on this I would be grateful.

Thanks!

Honestly, I don't know why you are having the problems. There is nothing obvious on those sites that should cause problems. The Sears site is Java heavy but that doesn't explain why it doesn't work at all. At least some of it should work even in an incompatable browser version.

It very well could be an ISP issue or something along the way between yourself and the site hosts. Definatly call them and give the symptoms and see if thay can give you a reason for the intermittency (I think that is a word?!?!)

Thanks for looking into it JC. I checked with my provider and they aren't having any problems and he walked me through a couple of things and nothing worked. I am so baffled as to why this is happening. It has to have something to do with the settings on the new computer because DH hooked up the old computer last night and we had no problems getting online to those sites, but the minute we connected the new computer it stopped working.

Finally!!!! We have resolved the issues, we are pretty confident that it was an ISP issue, even though our ISP insists it is not. DH has a friend that owns an ISP company so he gave us a free trial and lo and behold all of our previous issues were resolved. So we have now signed on with his company and we called our old ISP to cancel our service. The strange thing about the whole situation is that the old Gateway (Windows 95) could connect to all of the sites, where as the Dell could not. I don't get it, but I am glad that things are fixed, it has been a very frustrating 2-1/2 weeks. Thanks to everyone for their help!
