Update: HELP... does an account have to have the points in at time of reservation?

we are not yet owners but are considering and are hung up about one question....

does an account have to have the point amount in it for the reservation at the time the reservation is made or just at the time of the reservation?

The points just need to be in your account at the time of your vacation, not at the time you make your reservations.

Try making a reservation without points in your account or available for borrowing, from banking prior points or a transfer.
They will not do it. IE: If I have used all this years points, all banked points and borrowed all my next years points, they will NOT make a reservation for me until I have points or points available.

so if i have points coming in april (an april UY)... but none in my account now... and i call now, today, to make a reservation for may they won't make a reservation (for may of '05) unless i pull the points into the '04 use year, eventhough i am not using them until may?... that sounds squirrely

You CAN book with points that WILL be deposited into your account in April 05 for a May 05 vacation. You will not need to borrow them.

Of course you need to be within the booking windows.

With an April use year and a May 05 trip, April 05 points would be current year and you could borrow April 06 points. You could do this when the 11 month window opens for your home resort.
